Clearing some misconceptions about civil services:

1. There are 12 groups. Not one.
2. Not ever civil servant is an AC or an ASP.
3. An officer of 17 scale is paid 40-45k the day he joins service. Only field jobs are paid slightly more (2 groups).
4. Getting a house or a car is a privilege even amongst civil servants. The few that do get it are field officers, and for that posting only.
5. There are roughly about 210-220 civil servants inducted each year. There are a total of 600k gov employees.
6. Not every civil servant is policy maker. No CSP can bring changes in a system that they are administering. Its the job of senior management in the government.
7. There are strict check and balances for civil servants. Noone is given a free hand.
