A reminder that Eugenics is a concept popularized in the US to "breed out" undesirable traits of humans to end "human misery". Forced sterilization of women from disadvantaged backgrounds (esp. BIPOC) was how they carried out the mission. The Nazi campaign was all about this.
The reason you need to see the example above is because it is Eugenics being packaged differently. It's also a man's opinion on women's reproductive choices (full of misogyny). And this is how Eugenics was carried out. A privileged person (man) deciding the fate of the "other".
Why is this important? Because this is dehumanization 101. When you reduce women of a lesser class or disadvantaged population to a "breeding machine", you whitewash their oppression, make them inferior, problematize their existence, you don't have to engage w/ them respectfully.
I can go on. I'm not one to be provocative, but this is the exhibit A of why a genocide even took place in our country. It's misogyny, bigotry, racism, ablism, homophobia, classism & so much more that brought us to the current situation. Injustice only breeds injustice.
Yes, the person above has apologized, if you are curious as to why I'm singling him out. He's influential. That's how a process of genocide & mass atrocity starts. If the apology was made sincerely for Rohingya's sake, then it's up to the community to forgive. Not his audience.
Probably gonna get a lot of heat for this, but here we are. Intersectionality has to be considered. I can't sit back down until this whole "do Rohingya deserve rights?" are completely eradicated off the face the earth. Thanks for being here.
