weird how it’s socially acceptable for complete strangers to say “London? Can’t stand the place! Could never live there!” to people who live in London but if Londoners said that to people who live elsewhere we’d be hauled over hot coals and branded elitist snobs lol

Just to be clear: I’m not saying Londoners being snobby doesn’t happen. I’m from Scotland and can confirm it definitely does and it’s horrible to hear. But I think that is at least seen as vaguely socially unacceptable whereas it’s almost encouraged to shit on London from outside

and also it’s totally fine not to like London (even if I think treating it as a monolith is ridiculous because it’s about 12 cities in one) but just don’t be a dick about it! or if you are, don’t kick off when people say stuff you don’t like about your area
