A few people have asked me questions about dyslexia, so here we go:

Dyslexia is something I am proud of. School is harder because we’re all forced to learn in a cookie-cutter model, when not all of us fit.

I know it’s cliche to say it gets better afterwards, but it does.
The biggest thing that helped me was being provided a support tutor, at Uni. They were able to spot every single writing / reading mistake I was having and forced me to notice and improve.

But more importantly, they told me what skills I’m best at. And that gave me confidence.
The advice I can give anyone with dyslexia is to work out / be told your exact weaknesses, but more importantly your ✨strengths✨

Every dyslexic is different. I can’t read much, but can write. Get tailored advice that is applicable to your needs.
Also, please do not compare dyslexics to Richard Branson and Einstein.

I firmly believe dyslexics have skills better than everyone else, yet I find that this association gives us anxiety because now there’s an expectation that we’re somehow superhuman.
Finally, please do not assume dyslexics can’t write / can’t read / can’t express ourselves. So many of us do, brilliantly.

And please do not correct us, especially on here. We’re not at school. And why does it matter?
