Thought I would do some tweets for those recently successful in Inspector promotion processes across the country concerning your regulations.
Congratulations on your achievement!

Lots is often said about Inspector regs. The 1994 agreement which ended overtime for us can be summed up in the following:
It is a day back for working on a rest day or Bank Holiday. But is important to record exact hours as still eligible for unsocial hours payment.
There was an amendment last year to extend the time in which you could take a day back. Worth checking with your force as to how they implement this. Don't lose the days owed to you.
Only time you can get compensation is cancellation of annual leave. I've only heard of this on a handful of occasions.
As a rep I used to get asked does my annual leave change upon promotion to Insp? Answer is no, only goes up with service or becoming a Supt.
Just because we aren't entitled to same notice as Constables/Sgts re rota change, compensation for rest day or BH working doesn't mean Inspectors can be abused - this is what the HO circular pointed out at the time of the 94 agreement.
Some forces do not have suitable systems for recording Inspector working hours - in my view it is very important to record exactly what hours you work & not just for unsocial hours payment.
This thread does only apply to Inspectors in England and Wales. Although I know it is broadly reflected in a similar fashion in the regs for Police Scotland, BTP, MOD Police & CNC, they have their own regs on this subject.
Last time I checked, Inspectors in Guernsey & Jersey still got overtime and BH compensation but I'm sure someone will correct me if that has changed!
