A short thread with some points of title winning GKFC side.

Thread
(1/13)
Gokulam Kerala usually starts with a 433 with a single pivot and two hardworking midfielders.
(2/13)
Buildup
The cdm drops in between the centre backs during the build up and forms a back 3 which pushes the full backs high. Both defenders are good with the ball which makes this progression from the back easier
(3/13)
Off the ball they tend crowd the midfield thereby not allowing the opposition to build through the middle. High press will be there in the first line and in midfield which helps in not allowing opposition teams a healthy possession.

Now we will see some points
• Full backs

Earlier I have written about the inside runs of fullbacks. Gokulam is a team who does more of that. This helps the free roaming midfielders mostly Emil Benny, more freedom to operate between the spaces
(5/13)
See where he picks up the space and provides support as an extra midfielder in the half spaces.

▫️Beating the Opposition press

The midfield along with the full backs and the wide players always forms triangles for passing options. This always gets them out of opposition press. You can always see these passing patterns in their games
(7/13)
The passing patterns are common in their games
(8/13)
▫️Midfield

Gokulam had one of the most balance which functioned like a well oiled machine in the later part of the season. They had an explosive AM in Emil Benny a ball winner in Mayakkannan and a deep lying playmaker in Sharif Mukhmad. Excellent readers of the game.

With Annice coach staying let's hope they can defend their title comfortably for the next season I league.
