I could write a thesis about the unique greatness of each of the stars of #ablackladysketchshow. @GabrielleDennis is the Peter Sellars of the show: a chameleon who becomes a whole different human w each new character & wig. She’s the sneaky secret weapon in @robinthede’s arsenal.

OTOH, @ashleyn1cole is the beating heart. There’s always her at the center of each role she plays, which links them all in their endearing empathizability (is that a word?). #ablackladysketchshow

I miss @quintabrunson, who stood out for her stature & fearlessness. In my mind she’s always the dancing sister in the flash mob proposal sketch from S1: game for anything & 100% committed to the bit.

& now we have @SkyeTownsend, who reminds me of Lucille Ball w her leading lady looks belied by killer comic instinct & surprising ability to vanish into characters, & Laci Mosley, who feels like the most subversive after @robinthede herself (cf. tonight’s hair transition sketch).

& I could write pages on @robinthede. I’m trying to come up w a comparable talent & can’t. Jordan Peele is closest, but she has more range as a performer. She’s a writer/actor/producer who’s better at each of those than any such chimera I can think of. I hope she rules the world.

(Why am I going on about #ablackladysketchshow? Bc a) It’s legit tremendous, & b) I love that my daughter watches this show & sees in @robinthede the possibilities of who she could be. Hats off to all involved.)
