Continuation test Saturday, temp dropped to 18.7!C through the night, flow temp of boiler still 40 degrees, boiler regulating power between 0kw and 8kw, temps raising . 6 degrees outside and heavy rain. The point of this test is to see if my home can cope with lower temps of HP
We are up to 20 degrees jus after 07:15, it’s a shame the boiler regulates between 0&8kw then the battery might cover it so there is some pulling from grid. The question is would a Heat pump pull more than 5kw ? In peak times. It really is a winters day still 6d outside & rain
Boiler has now shut off including pump , family are up so some of the usage is clothes drier, been pulling from grid and battery
Boiler being off was short lived it’s back on now, it is a winter day
The colder temps are having a effect, boiler stopping for around 10 mins then kicking back in again, doesn’t look like there’s going to be much solar gain today it’s still heavy rain and 6 degrees outside, solar PV has just started generating 100 watts
Starting to get that on and off pattern, outside temp has risen slightly, boiler has started to stay of for longer as the heat starts embedding in to the building, the longer the boiler is off the more the chance there is of 12 kw pull again due to water temps cooling in boiler
10 an update boiler has been off for most of the last hour expecting to come back on soon, generating only 400 watts from solar so not much solar gain
Another hour on, my home actually holds the heat better than expected, temp outside is up to 8 degrees and only drizzle now, solar pv is only generating 600 watts so more solar out there. Boiler not been in for 2 hours 15 mins ish
Mid-day and still no additional heat required from this morning, I’m beginning to think could I shift all the initial heat in to the off peak slot, warmer house happy wife
1pm and no change apart from it getting warmer outside, at this rate the boiler won’t be coming back on
I need to get a ct energy monitor on my boiler to see how much power it pulls over a day/week/month I also need one on my solar 3.6 kWh car charger
