@BeckyCNN Every struggling Goan thanks you for voicing the questions that none of us here receive a response to.
Additional bits about Goa's current scenario.
1) Chief Minister & Health Minister have cited "economic meltdown" since December 2020 for not closing the borders.
2) Despite the terrifying uphill climb of Goa's Covid graph, the government moved in for municipal elections to 11 bodies in two phases, the second as recent as April 23 2021, a day after the following "official" numbers were released.
3) Leading up to the municipal elections, every single politician campaigned with large groups of 20-30 in tow to show strength. Goa's second superspreader event, the first being the New Year's eve parties.
4) A glance at the "restrictions" imposed by the government would easily explain the Covid numbers and deaths. With the State's Assembly elections fast approaching, these were tweaked slightly by the CM on May 7 2021 for optics rather than for effect.
5) Reports of corruption in purchase of ventilators, arm twisting of private hospitals to monopolize oxygen supply, VIP treatment to political elite and their circles & struggle to find even a pulse oximeter remain unconfirmed rumours due to political pressure on doctors.
6) Covid Hospitals and Covid Care Centes were denotified by the government, even as countries in the West reported the second wave and new strains.
7) Goans are being blamed for mingling with tourists and for hosting weddings of 50 people as permitted by the government. Anyone seeking accountability is sidelined.
8) Lastly, no restrictions are implemented strictly fearing public backlash at the upcoming Assembly elections and the vaccination drive is next to non-existent. Fin.
