A thread on some of the parallels between Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill

#WTCFinal #ViratKohli #Cricket #WTC21
Both Kohli and Gill started playing cricket at the age of 3

According to Virat's family, when he was 3-years old, he would pick up a cricket bat, start swinging it and ask his father to bowl at him. Whereas Gill's father said that he was passionate about cricket since 3.
Blockbuster performance in Vijay Merchant Trophy
In 2003-2004, Virat scored 470 runs in 4 matches at an avg of 117.50 with 2 💯 and top-score of 251*. Delhi Under-17s won the 2004–05 in which Kohli finished as the highest run-scorer with 757 runs from 7 matches at an avg of 84.11 with 2 centuries.
Gill made his state proud by amassing 1,018 runs in seven matches (including 5 💯 and 3 50s) in the U-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy.
Superb performance against England during U-19 days
In July 2006, Kohli was selected in the India Under-19 squad on its tour of England. He averaged 105 in the three-match ODI series against England Under-19s and 49 in the three-match Test series. India Under-19 went on to win both the series.....
.....At the conclusion of the tour, the India U19 coach Lalchand Rajput was impressed with Kohli
Whereas Gill starred in India's 3-1 handsome win at home over England in the Youth ODIs, scoring 351 runs in 4 innings and then went on to match up to his high standards in his first tour of England soon after....
....India whitewashed the hosts 5-0 and Gill top-scored again with 278 runs across 4 innings
Solid performances in U-19 WC. Virat had aggregated 235 runs at an avg of 47 in the 2008 U-19 World Cup batting at no.3. On the other hand, Gill scored 418 runs in the 2018 U-19 World Cup at an avg of 104.50. Also both of their performances helped their team to win the cup
100s vs Pakistan in pressure situation.

While Virat scored 183 and 107 vs Pakistan in an important Asia Cup and WC match, Shubman scored 102* in the U-19 WC Semifinal.
Youngest Deodhar Trophy captains
Shubman became the youngest-known captain to lead a side in the Deodhar Trophy final. Gill broke Kohli’s 10-year-old record. Kohli had led North Zone in the Deodhar Trophy final when he was 21 years and 124 days old in 2009-10. Gill was only 20 years and 57 days old.
Batting in the lower order in the initial few years of IPL.

Both Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill had to initially bat at no.5,6,7 for RCB and KKR respectively.
Enjoying the batting with "Chris".

While we all know how much Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle loved batting together, but Shubman and Chris Lynn also seems to enjoy batting together as they have scores like 96, 62 in very few innings.
Same energy and passion 🔥
Ability to take on the best bowlers of the opposition
First impact performance in tests came against Aussies in Australia.

While Virat had scores like 75, 116 against Australia in his first tour, Shubman had scores like 35*, 91 which played key role in the team's wins.
While we come to an end with regards to the parallels between them in their career, here are some shots played by both and look how similar they are!!
