i hate the concept of what is classic and what is not. when people think of classics they think of old greek philosophers, when the first known poets came from ancient mesopotamia and were women.
The concept of math and philosophy and astrology and all the advanced subjects we learn today were inspired from ancient african, asian, and indigenous american civilization.
when we hear mythology we think of athena, but why aren’t we taught about Ishtar, who was a gender non conforming deity of love and fertility? Ishtar was one of the most important and strongest goddess in ancient mesopotamia, but people barely know about her.
the whole idea of “classics” is so euro centric and not based in reality.
