Fellow SWers, whether or not you are online-only: I am begging you to not use the Twitter Tip Jar feature when it becomes available for you. Here's a thread why:
1. There are already privacy concerns w/ personal info (such as the address assoc. w/ your PayPal acct) being visible to ppl who tip using the feature. To my knowledge there hasn't been a patch rollout to fix that privacy vulnerability.
2. PayPal (which is notoriously anti-SW) is one of the main tipping options. That itself should tell you who Tip Jar is intended for (i.e. not us). Any feature not intended for us can easily be used against us re: acct s*sp*ntion or sh*d*wb*nning should the platform choose.
2 con't. Twitter only puts up with platforming SWers because we drive traffic. They are incurring a risk by allowing adult content, as demonstrated by the many campaigns against pornography & "trafficking" on Twitter that are trying to target Twitter's ad revenue & public image.
2 con't. Our presence is precarious here, & becoming more so with the increased scrutiny on payment processors that handle adult content. Don't give Twitter any more reason than you have to to raise suspicion on "transactions".
