A lot of people seem to grossly misunderstand critical psychiatry and psychology, usually due to a tiny minority. I think mental health diagnoses do exist. I just don’t see the usefulness in a lot of cases in how they are categorised and pathologised. It’s racist and patriarchal.
I think medication has a place for some people.

You should absolutely know your differences and get help with problems you want to work on.

There’s a massive power differential that never takes situational factors into consideration.
One of the best sources I have on this issue is @iwritecoolstuff... this thread digs into a lot of the issues: https://twitter.com/iwritecoolstuff/status/1367482532980211714?s=20
The thing that upsets me is those who are generally managing their conditions well - have undone internalised ableism, or have massive privilege and can get proper care.
I struggle everyday with stuff, I just hate myself less for that.
Mental health history is so bleak. So many conditions were literally created as a means of social control and to disempower Black people and women. Intersectional feminism is important to understand. You cannot be pro-neurodiversity without being anti-racist.
This is why when you do racist stuff you don’t realise is racist due to whiteness you have to accept it. Learn why. Improve. Listen more than speak. You will get this wrong the older you are and the later you’ve challenged it. You never stop trying when you fail.
Radical empathy is something you should practice as a white ND person. The number one thing to do when being called a racist is to try not to respond and fight rejection sensitivity. As I recently learned no context is good, do not provide it.
