Those who subordinate their religion to their politics are reenacting the sin of Arachne.

A thread.
You might find the Gods through political pipelines, but once you do your priorities *must* reverse. The Gods do not derive Goodness from aligning with your ideology;
Your ideology must always be realigning as you grow to match the Good according to what the Gods make evident to us through both tradition and lived experience.
I can guarantee that most of what you consider good and true right now is discursive. It might not be ~wrong,~ but it's probably occupying way too much mental space and importance.
Class, race, gender, history, modernity - stop! These are not what you *are,* they are not what the Cosmos *is.*

You may cling to them because they are all you know, but in this you are like an apple stubbornly refusing to drop from the branch even as December approaches.
The larval soul is compelled to take these externalities and weave a cocoon for itself. Some cocoons may be prettier or more effective than others, but all of them should eventually be left behind.
Today, without rites of passage and mythopoesis, there is an epidemic of "beautiful ones" (to use the terminology of the mouse utopia experiment) who dote over their cocoons of Correct Ideas, comparing them with those of others like children comparing pokemon collections.
Because the Soul is smarter than the Mind, most sense that something is missing from this equation.

And yet when going in search of that piece, just by the nature of how the mind works, they are forced to filter things through the lens of their cocoon.
This is normal and natural, but contact with truth, with reality at its most primal and immanent, should slowly erode the cocoon rather than reinforce it.
When you refuse to allow that erosion to happen, when you reject the fullness of experience and understanding provided by the Gods and mediated through the traditional symbology we have co-created with them, you are committing the hubris of Arachne:
Arachne believed she could weave a better tapestry than Athena; symbolically, that she could create a better reality than a God can - exactly like the teenage radical who wants to tinker with social systems to produce a utopia.
When challenged by the Goddess to do so, Arachne produced a work of incredible technical skill and precision... and still lost.

No, it wasn't a matter of jealously as Ovid would have you believe.
It was because Arachne's tapestry lacked spirit.

Offered the chance to create, she chose instead to depict the Gods as forces of predation and destruction;

"life is unfair, nobody deserves to suffer all this"
Arachne depicted ugliness extremely well... that doesn't make it beautiful. Take note, modern artists.

Similarly, the utopian materialist wishes to organize matter in the way that is best for matter itself; His cocoon, no matter how well it works, is Arachnid.
Just as Arachne was "punished" by being allowed to let her hubris consume and transform her, the rejection of true philosophy, religion, and devotion in favor of preserving the cocoon will leave you larval forever.
If you are going to build what you claim to want to build, the lego tower of specific ideological ingredients is not going to do you any good. You are going to have to face *reality* in its most primal, terrifying, transcendent form and bring yourself to acknowledges its GOODNESS
Not just that, you are going to have to acknowledge that it is *more good* than you are, more good than any of your transient desires could ever be.

Once you do so, your considerations are going to change a little.
That madness, that reality beyond what your own mind can process and categorize and valuate, is Dionysus. There is no Sovereignty without him. There is no path to the Gods without him.
It is only once that contact is reestablished, false attachments released, and genuine awe and reverence for raw Being in all its forms internalized, that a tapestry of proper structure and ideology can be woven according to the correct priorities.
What you actually want is probably not what you think you want. Humble yourself and let the Gods guide you to your goals, not vice-versa.
