10 thoughts on Counseling/Therapy
1. You don’t have to go. You obviously made it this far in life.

Going to therapy might extend your life though, along with making it better for you and those you share it with.
2. It’s not always about the past.
You can interact on current and upcoming events.
Considering the various ways to navigate them while looking for best solutions.
3. Good Therapy not only enhances mental and emotional health.

It also strengthens physical and relational health.
4. Working through, healing from, and releasing past trauma can change how we show up in present and future situations.
5. It’s not just about us. The ripple effect of healing and transformation can reach far beyond what we imagine.
6. You are not married to your counselor. If there isn’t good dynamics or if they don’t specialize in your area, it’s ok to find another one.

Also counseling is like any profession. There is a spectrum from poor-to-phenomenal with everything in between.

Find one that suits you.
7. Therapy is multi-faceted.
In some sessions your mind might be blown, others you might break down, there may be healing in one session, fear and anxiety in another.
Some sessions may be low key. Others celebratory. Still others exhausting.

In my opinion it’s worth it.
8. Getting counsel from someone with an outside perspective with your best interest in mind can be incredibly helpful/life changing.
9. We get out of it what we are willing to put into it.

Also reminding ourselves growth isn’t linear is important.
10. It can be scary. It can be painful. It can be amazingly life giving. It’s worth it because you are worth it.

There is only one you in all of HISTORY.

YOU are worth taking care of.
