Y'all...as someone whose mouth was seriously unhealthy due to no insurance (= no preventative care) I can speak first hand how expensive it is, even with insurance, to get things back on track. https://twitter.com/DanPriceSeattle/status/1389651288112066560
I spent almost 10 years with no consistent insurance coverage. I now understand why people slowly die from lack of health care. I now understand why fat people are malnourished in the richest country in the world.
I very much understand why people ration their insulin. I get why people can't purchase their perscriptions.
And here's the thing folks, It shouldn't have to happen *to* me *for* me to finally get it.
Which is why I'm adamant about telling my story.
Loss of a job and/or loss of money in our society = loss of status. In effect if these things happens to you, you are shamed into silence.

Like it's some personal moral failing of your own design.
Trust me, it isn't.
I swear if I came into serious money I would fund one of those mobile dental clinics to just travel around Chicago.
And here's what I don't get. I know folks who are amazing, generous good hearted people. But they donate time & money to causes overseas.
WHEN THERE IS SO MUCH NEED RIGHT IN THEIR BACKYARD!
It's just mind boggling.
But I'm not in the habit of telling people where to direct their charitable giving.

If I was, I have more than a few suggestions.
