Maybe this is a little too nuanced for twitter but I think that demanding other people recognise and treat a character as being autistic bc it's your personal headcanon isn't valid BUT the fact that characters with strong autistic traits are often hated is a worthwhile discussion
I think it's fair to point it out when the main reasons people cite for disliking characters (and real people) are just a list of autistic traits. We could have that conversation instead of reducing the whole thing to be about the validity of headcanon aggression lol
idk I can't help but side-eye allistics when they weigh in on these topics and all they have to contribute is that they think fandom is stupid. Like, ok? Nice one
(to be absolutely clear, I Don't think that hating a character that is commonly treated by fanon as being autistic makes you ableist lmao, but this is a trend that I think is worth giving some thought to)
I think there's something to be said in this ballpark about allistic authors/showrunners giving characters flaws that just end up being autistic traits, and those 'flaws' are treated carelessly or without compassion, and that rubs off on the audience
Also................. Sometimes I can't help but feel like the bad fandom take is just an excuse to publicly dunk on an autistic person. People have bad fandom takes constantly lol............... why do people feel the need to screenshot the autistic person and put them on blast
