One of the limitations of the term "conservative" is that it is a defensive term.

True to form much of the way conservatives approach life, family, religion, and politics is to only defend against hostile ideological forces.
Rarely do conservatives actually go on offense and *contend* for more ground than they previously had.

This explains why the left is successful at chipping away at the foundations of all the aforementioned areas of life.

They always get to play offense.
This mindset will need to change and perhaps the word we use to describe ourselves will have to change along with it. It's equally true that what constitutes the modern left today isn't anything remotely close to liberalism. It's authoritarian statism through corporate proxy.
Perhaps better words to describe the political, social, & cultural divide we are seeing are reconstructionists versus deconstructionists.

Reconstruction at least emphasizes the need to take pre-emptive action in conserving what is good and right and wholesome.
We must conserve what is left and reconstruct what has been lost. Perhaps a combination of the two?

I am a conservative reconstructionist.

And yes I would define and identify with the term "Christian reconstructionist."

That being said, I don't think conservative reconstructionist is an oxymoron if we are describing a two-fold strategy to life and practice.
If we are staying purely in the realm of ideology the two terms are obviously opposed.

Can conservativism alone bring back a patriarchal ordered nuclear family with all the societal blessings that flowed from it?
