“Don’t live in an expensive place” is not only bad personal finance advice (some do far better in high cost areas), it can also be bad health advice.

I could only keep my high-risk self completely home during the pandemic thanks to the many delivery services in our $$$ town.
Expensive places also tend to be more dense and have better transit, which means using fewer fossil fuels to live.

Expensive places are more likely to be safer for people of color and LGBTQ+ people.

And of course pay tends to be much higher in expensive places.
There’s also value in living in a place that you love, and not letting money rule every decision you make.

Putting money above your happiness is absolutely doing it wrong.
