I haven't tweeted much because of the current situation in Colombia. For friends and followers, I am fine and so is my family.

I will now talk to my fellow academic friends and colleagues. Here's what you can do to help after you read this thread:
1. Get informed. There are already good resources in @guardian. @BBCWorld, or @democracynow describing and analyzing the situation. Read them, make sense of the situation, and amplify in your networks. Some folx have no idea what's happening here.
2. Reach out. If there are Colombians in your institutions, there's a very good chance there's a Colombian Students Association. Talk to them, get informed and help them amplify their voices on your campuses.
3. Empathize. If you have Colombian students, do know they're grieving. If you have Colombian colleagues, do know they're grieving. Things like these feel harder when you're abroad and these students and colleagues do have families here also.
4. Mobilize. Write to your representatives, to your media, to your administrators so they also bring this up. International pressure can go a long way. We know @UN is paying attention so more awareness can lead to more pressure
5. Recognize. This is happening in "Colombia" but it's far from an isolated event. It's part of a chain reaction and the response needs to be a coordinated chain reaction also.

Thank you for your attention and thank you for amplifying our voices all over.
