I really hope he can find it in his soul to learn to grow and change. These words are harmful and this behavior is why #GirlsThatPvP and other all female communities exist.
Do better.
Be better.
That's the 2021 mantra.
I'm speaking up because I've had enough. Over the last few weeks I have heard of at least 5 different incidents like this. Where a woman explained how words or behaviors made them feel and the response was aggression and hate.
This is not just happening in the US. It's all over the world. People who have been marginalized and oppressed are speaking up and trying to educate others and they are being attacked. It's unacceptable and it needs to stop.
How is this world supposed to change if we cannot even have a discourse on these things? I profoundly encourage everyone to reconsider the orientation of their hearts. Open your minds. Listen before you speak.
I am imploring the #PokemonGO PvP Community to step up to the plate. Hold each other accountable. You want to be a good ally? Speak up. Lead by example. Treat other people with kindness and love.
It's so easy to hide behind a keyboard in this pandemic world and never face the consequences. I have always believed that our community was better than this and I know we can be if we all work together.
Please try to think before you speak/type. This Community has always been welcoming and inclusive, but over the past year that seems to have been lost. Not everyone needs to like each other, I'm just asking for mutual respect.
Be good to each other. Think about how your words and actions impact others. Impact > Intent. You may mean well, but all of that gets negated by how you made the person on the other side feel. Be respectful and practice kindness.
I'm asking everyone who reads this to pledge to make change. Be an agent for change. Build this Community back up and help people heal. You never know what the person on the other side of the screen is going through and your kindness could be the difference.
