No one picturizes songs like @priyadarshandir does!
In 1980's he came, he "visualized" and he conquered Malayalam Cinema in a way no one had done before.

A thread of Priyadarshan expertise in songs throughout a fantastic career!
1986 - He did this song so early in his career ! Look at the way he places phones of various colours throughout "Neeye Kinavo" in Hello My Dear Wrong Number" !
1986 - Priyadarshan's detailing in costumes and choice of colors for songs is remarkable. Watch out in "Ponveene" of Thalavattom, how the yellow colors for costumes of Mohanlal and Lisy or white colors for the kids costumes gels so well with frames !
1988 - How Priyadarshan interweaves what happens in Mukundan's real life and his dreams in this song from "Mukundettane Sumithra vilikkunnu" is impressive ! A 5 minute song tells us a lot about Mukundan and his love for Sumithra ! An Ouseppachan Magic !
1988- In Aryan, it amazes me how he shot that sequence when Mohanlal runs above the roof of those taxis in Mumbai's busy road ! As for another picturization done well, Mumbai is captured so smoothly in " Ponmurali" song
1988 - Chithram becomes Malayalam's all time blockbuster thanks to its beautiful songs too.

2:12 to 2:56 when Mohanlal walks across a series of big photo frames in "Eeran Megham" is a favorite sequence !
1988- Chithram was truly revolutionary in visualization of songs and needs another mention. "Doore Kizhakkudikkum" is a classic! The colors, the costumes, placement of artists through the song, those umbrellas! - All brilliantly done.
1989- Another hit song - Watch for that frame of ladies walking with basket on 2:23 in "Anthiponvettam" in Vandanam. M.G Sreekumar- Mohanlal was a thing. They were particularly a thing in Priyadarshan movies.
1991 - Kilukkam becomes another all time blockbuster. No other movie had made us feel so close to Ooty like Kilukkam had. S.P Venkatesh's Kilukil Pambaram is soothing for both ears and eyes. Watch from 0:28 how frame zooms out through the window pane.
1991- Kilukkam needs another mention as Mohanlal becomes an emotion that would stay with Keralites forever, a big thanks to his films with friend Priyadarshan. Mohanlal is at his romantic best in "Neela Venalil".

Use of light rays in this song !
1991 - "Ramayana Katte" is a very well choreographed song. 1:24 - where Mohanlal is pulled out to the dance and he starts dancing with others is a favorite sequence!

Safe to say Mohanlal "the dancer" hasn't been exploited this well by anyone else!
1992 - Sometimes I forget this extremely soothing song is picturized to perfection by Priyadarshan too ! (Maybe seeing Jayaram instead of Mohanlal!). M. G Radhakrishnan's well scored "Ambala Puzha" was a sensation!

The use of lamps through this song !
1994 - Thenmavin Kombathu wins KV Anand and Sabu Cyril National awards. Both goes on to have great careers , teaming up in their initial years with Priyadarshan. The sets used for this song is a masterstroke!
1994 - Thenmavin Kombath needs another mention for the way it became a visual experience like never before. Almost every other frame in Karutha Penne Song is a treat too!
1994 - Priyadarshan, Sabu Cyril and KV Anand would team up for one of the finest picturizations of a song in Malayalam in "Nilaave Maayumo". We do talk so less about this song!

The use of reverse motion sequences in this song !😍
1996 - Kalapani perhaps got criticization for insertion of more songs in such a serious theme. But nevertheless all songs had the "Priyadarshan" signature ! How night and low light is used in this Chemboove song !
1996 - Kalapani deserves further mention as another Priyadarshan movie won National awards on technical front for both Camera and Art direction-Santhosh Sivan and Sabu Cyril

Priyadarshan did a great job casting and capturing Tabu brilliantly in Kalapani!
1997 - Sabu Cyril continues to have wonders with Priyadarshan as they form brilliant sets for this song in Chandralekha, a movie where Mohanlal reaches his peak in comic timing. He dances well to this chartbuster !
1997 - Chandralekha again. At 2:42 of the superbly composed song - "Thamarapoovin" from Benny Ignatius , watch out for how Mohanlal syncs his lips well to M.G Sreekumar's voice ! This actor-director-singer combo could do anything together !
1997 - Did I say about Priyadarshan capturing Tabu like few others have ! This one from Virasat !
1998 - How can Priyadarshan and A.R Rahman not team up for a terrific song ? There is no other way around, as Priyadarshan does full justice to this A.R Rahman from Doli Sajake Rakhna

1999 - Mammootty and Pooja Batra had great chemistry in this lovely song in Megham. By this time, Priyadarshan can do nothing wrong for such beautiful songs . And what a great album Megham had !
2000 - The colours, costumes, lighting - Everything about the songs in Raakilipattu !

Priyadarshan was born to picturize songs. Period !
2001 - Didn't I say before that no one else have used Mohanlal " the dancer" like Priyadarshan. Wait how the actor waited to turn 41 to give his best dance performance in the extremely well choreographed and well shot "Aaalare Govinda" in Kakkakuyil !
2003 - This song is how a director who debuted in 1980's adapts himself so well and improvises over years. In Lesa lesa, he teams up with the talented Thirru to give this one gem of a visualized song !
2007 - Priyadarshan's Kanchivaram becomes only the second Tamil film to win National award for best film. In this song, he captures the village and culture so perfectly.

Remember this is the director who started with comedies in 1980s !
2016 - After a lean phase, Priyadarshan bounces back to form in Oppam. "Minungum" has the director's penchant for terrific set pieces and minute details in a song that makes it special - especially 3:35 to 4:05 showing this !
2021 - Its unfortunate that we didnt get to see the magnum opus Marakkar yet ! This song though shows us glimpses of his association with Thirru and Sabu Cyril after a long while is worth the wait !
Using Twitter's " #NoCrop" for these frames from the Lesa Lesa track !
and here is Vettam' " Mazhathullikal" , for everyone who was asking it....
