Thanks for all the comments on this. Too many to respond to individually so here's another (shorter) THREAD https://twitter.com/GavinBarwell/status/1390549774986788864
Yes of course the vaccine rollout is a factor in Conservative success but the fact that they are making much more gains in Leave areas (see https://twitter.com/BethRigby/status/1390643606285922305?s=19) suggests that it is not the key factor
Some people who don't follow me mistakenly assumed I was cheerleadering for the Conservative Party's current strategy. The realignment that is taking place contributed to me losing my seat. It should be possible to acknowledge something is working even if you don't like it
There are some risks to the Conservative party from the strategy it is pursuing. First, the risk of the Union breaking up - the Scottish Parliament results will give an insight into that
Second, is it a viable long term strategy? What happens as an increasing proportion of the electorate is university educated and from an ethically minority background? Do younger voters, who are currently hostile to the Conservatives, change their views as they get older?
Finally lots of people replied saying "This shows we need PR". Leaving aside the arguments for and against PR, Labour would need to win an election under the current system in order to deliver PR so this isn't an answer to the "What does Labour need to do to win?" question
