Anybody looking to do freelance translating or teaching online as a side gig from your main job please make sure your company allows double work first.

Technically you can never tell your company and fill taxes yourself after you receive and fill in your yearly tax adjustment then just pay the extra however this could create many complications

1) it’s just a pain in the arse keeping everything secret and managing secrets, taxes etc

2) if you apply for house loan or sometimes even getting a credit card, they will contact your company to check if double work is permitted (my bank just did this to me)

I would never advise not paying taxes though as it’s irresponsible and will create many problems for you in the future, possibly at a time where many is tighter and could affect visa.

Dunno if it’s changed now but Peppy Kids and Kohgakusha DID NOT allow double work

I made sure to ask during my interview for my current company if double work is permitted and they said yes.
