Next it is over to our compere for the event Dr Margaret Murphy who will introduce each of the awardees. #SONMAwards21
First up is Andrew Hawkins who is awarded the Undergraduate Student of the Year award.

Next, the Postgraduate Student of the Year award goes to Deirdre Callanan, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in @SIVUH #SONMAwards21
Deirdre is set to go down in nursing history after becoming Ireland's first registered Advanced Nurse Practitioner in Head and Neck oncology!
The next award given is the Student Leader of the Year which goes to Dean Murray Cantwell who was nominated by several of his peers. Congrats Dean! #SONMAwards21

The next award is for an Outstanding Contribution to Student Life and goes to Katie Curtin who is actively engaged in a number of activities and committees.

The award for Recognition in Sport goes to Frances O' Connell, who is in her final year of BSc in Intellectual Disability Nursing.

Next up is the award for Award for Recognition in the Arts and Entertainment goes to Aoife McCarthy who is in her final year of General Nursing. What a lovely idea you had to honour your late Grandmother with your art. #SONMAwards21
The Promoting Equality & Diversity Award goes to Reema Antony, a CNM2 in @CUH_Cork who coordinated and choreographed the marvellous Jerusalema dance by her group of superb Indian nurses. You can watch it here: #SONMAwards21
Our Community Activist Award for 2021 goes to Nwanneka Judith Uduh who is studying for a BSc Nursing Studies and plans to bring her learnings back into her nursing practice in Nigeria. #SONMAwards21

The Community Engagement Award is presented to Michelle Stack. Michelle is the peer support 1st year medicine and health rep. Congratulations Michelle! #SONMAwards21
The Preceptor of the Year Award, nominated by students, goes to Margaret Kelleher, a Midwife on 4 South @IrelandSouthWID Kind and caring, Margaret always takes the time to engage with students and ensure that they are comfortable with caseload. Congrats Margaret! #SONMAwards21
The Best Clinical & Quality Learning Environment of the Year goes to the Local Injury Unit, Mallow General Hospital. Nominated by students who said "All staff in the LIU were so accommodating and were great teachers". Huge Congrats to everyone there @HospitalMallow #SONMAwards21
The Patricia J. Power Excellence in Clinical Practice Award comes from a collective nomination from CPCs.
This year it goes to Phyllis Cremin a 4th Year Intellectual Disability Nursing Student. Phyllis has excelled in all of her clinical placements. Huge Congratulations Phyllis
The Keady Clifford Award for Excellence in Children's Nursing seeks to honour the late Keady Clifford's memory and to recognize an exemplary student in the context of children’s nursing. This year it goes to Mary Dwan BSc Children & General Nursing 2016 Intake. #SONMAwards21
"Mary has shown great dedication to her studies, acquiring excellent knowledge, which she humbly translates into clinical practice, providing compassionate and competent patient care"

Professor Hegarty closes the event and thanks all our colleagues and supporters in our clinical partner sites who enable all our nursing and midwifery programmes and support our students so well. #SONMAwards21

Phil was of course a previous winner of one of these awards and now she's an International Athlete and Olympic Qualifier!
