Rating the possible managers who could replace in Klopp in 2024.

[A thread]:
Steven Gerrard (Rangers)

I was never a fan of this idea as didn’t want Stevie to ruin his legacy, but having won the league with Rangers, I’m coming round. It feels like an inevitability, but just hope 2024 doesn’t come too soon.

Suitability: 7/10

Likelihood: 9/10
Xabi Alonso (Real Sociedad B)

Has started his managerial career earning rave reviews with Sociedad and having learnt from Benitez, Ancelotti, Mourinho and Guardiola, has all the makings to be an elite coach. Needs to prove himself elsewhere.

Suitability: 5/10

Likelihood: 5/10
Julian Nagelsmann (Leipzig)

Already Bayern bound at only 33-years-old, Nagelsmann was probably the most coveted manager in Europe. Plays a great brand of football and would be the ideal choice, but reckon he’s at Bayern for the long-term.

Suitability: 9/10

Likelihood: 4/10
Marcelo Bielsa (Leeds)

Having built up legend status at Leeds with his pressing, fast-build up style of play, there are similarities with Klopp in many ways. Wouldn’t be a long-term appointment, but for a few years, could be a lot of fun.

Suitability: 7/10

Likelihood: 4/10
Pep Lijnders (Liverpool)

Just no. Seems to be favoured by Klopp as his replacement, but having failed in his one managerial job in Holland and seemingly offering no tactical changes this season, it would be a move that screams unambition.

Suitability: 3/10

Likelihood: 7/10
Luis Enrique (Spain)

The man behind the magic of MSN, Enrique hasn't managed a club side since leaving Barca in 2017, but could be ready by 2024. Not the best brand of football, but gets results.

Suitability: 5/10

Likelihood: 5/10
Graham Potter (Brighton)

Playing an attractive brand of football with a side who’d be much higher up the table with a more potent forward line, Potter is a smart tactician, but would be underwhelming having never worked for a top club.

Suitability: 3/10

Likelihood: 3/10
Rafa Benitez (Unattached)

Revered at Anfield, it seemed destined for Benitez to return to Liverpool one day, but the ship seems to have sailed. Would be a smart option to steady the ship after Klopp though and is the tactical mastermind.

Suitability: 6/10

Likelihood: 3/10
Jesse Marsch (Salzburg)

Similar to Klopp in many ways, Marsch has helped bring through the likes of Haaland and Szoboszlai for Salzburg, while seemingly being likeable and charismatic. If the Leipzig job goes well, could be a solid choice.

Suitability: 6/10

Likelihood: 6/10
Max Allegri (Unattached)

A tactical master and a serial winner, Allegri would be a starkly different appointment, but is tactically flexible, ruthless and has star power. His lack of attacking philosophy probably counts against him.

Suitability: 6/10

Likelihood: 2/10
Erik ten Hag (Ajax)

The man who transformed Ajax, playing attacking football and helping develop young stars, Ten Hag would be a bold appointment, but may need experience outside Holland before being considered.

Suitability: 6/10

Likelihood: 5/10
Brendan Rodgers (Leicester)

His stock has risen ever since being sacked in 2015, winning it all with Celtic before doing an incredible job with Leicester. Not sure if he’d handle the pressure of a return, but weirder things have happened.

Suitability: 4/10

Likelihood: 2/10
