Whatever his reasons, it end up costing over 3 million Nigerian lives, a genocide, famine, rape, wanton destruction and subjugation. Including mistrust that persists even today. This was the cost to be paid to wrestle power back to a central govt.

With this bit of history in mind, little wonder why the majority of old and current senators err on the side of caution by voting down any proposed legislature that seeks to set up state policing. It can turn nasty pretty fast. However. It looks inevitable right now.

So the senators should stop being afraid of our past and figure out ways to safeguard against what happened before, and amend our constitution as required for our current security needs.
