Urgh fuck it I'm just going to go on a rant here. The right's refusal to learn what Labour did right in 2017, and it's idiocy in refusing to include the left in the party (btw, look how well that would have worked for Joe Biden...) are partly responsible for Hartlepool. BUT
so is the failure of the left to do anything in places like Hartlepool for 20,30 years. There are people on my timeline crowing behind crocodile tears about what's happened who would die before moving to somewhere like Hartlepool
people who would much rather spend time designing top graphics for a socialist pamphlet distributed at a zine fest than go somewhere poor and run down and start organising with the people there
I will piss everyone off with this but we are all to fucking blame for Hartlepool, and washing dirty laundry in public might get you RTs and likes but it does nothing to help the working people who are now going to be a little bit more fucked, does it. Go build something better.
and by the way (and I include myself in this) yes it's shit we have been so badly treated we didn't want to leaflet or door knock but our local council candidates are not Starmer, and your town's food bank users needed Labour locally. Learn from that secret guilt you're feeling.
