I'm going to use a purely hypothetical example to illustrate my point. Let's say an apocalyptic death cult is trying to conquer the Middle East and you're calling Berlin for some help to push back. Here's what you can expect https://twitter.com/marceldirsus/status/1390572741737254915
Christian Democrats: "This sounds bad. We'd like to help and we don't want to be shouted at by our allies again so we can probably do a bit of reconnaissance or like refuelling maybe? Sorry we can't really do more than that."
Social Democrats: "You want us to make an actual contribution here? That's going to put us in a really awkward spot because we like shouting peace over and over again but we also want to be seen as responsible. We'll drag it out and agree to the least meaningful option possible."
Left Party: "Capitalism is evil and your attempt to save innocent women and children from being sold into slavery by an apocalyptic death cult is a prime example of American imperialism. Something something socialism, please don't contact us again."
Greens: "We are all about human rights and we really care about people not being overrun by apocalyptic death cults but you know there's just no basis in international law here. So we won't help but if you do, get ready for hours of lectures on our moral superiority. Talk soon!"
AfD: "As I was saying, the refugees are to blame and Merkel is a dictator using the fake pandemic to destroy the Fatherland. Patriots from around the world have to join forces to stop it. Bla bla bla racism is great and I'm an idiot."
Free Democrats: At this point I have no idea what the FDP wants or doesn't want so they might help or they may propose a tax cut for the local hospitality industry to solve the problem. Could be either or, it's a bit of a wild card.
