/8 This was roundly condemned by Jeff Knott @RSPBEngland and Luci Ryan @WoodlandTrust
/8 Also last month @BasingstokeGov approved the felling of 67 mature oak and 3 mature beech trees at #OakdownFarm for a giant warehouse. Our petition protesting this (89k signatures thus far) is here: http://change.org/SaveOakdownOaks
/8 In a letter @HantsIWWildlife condemned this decision pointing out the site is *adjacent to ancient woodland* and *wholly unsuitable* in light of #ClimateEmergency targets. 5/8 After @BasingstokeGov planning approval local MPâs @MariaMillerUK @kitmalthouse @ranil @stevebrine requested a call-in from @RobertJenrick Read here: https://www.basingstokegazette.co.uk/news/19218728.mp-disappointed-councils-decision-approve-speculative-warehouse-plans/
/8 This week CAGE have reported to @NaturalEngland the flying of birds of prey on the #OakdownFarm site in a CYNICAL ATTEMPT TO PREVENT BIRDS NESTING including skylarks. This demonstrates the developerâs total contempt for the natural world.
/8 We are outraged by the flagrant disregard for the natural world and #environment shown by @BasingstokeGov who have lauded their parkland #biodiversity project 2 MILES from the site of so much biodiversity loss at #OakdownFarm. Shame on them.
/8 We call on @BasingstokeGov to immediately stop the flying of hawks or falcons to prevent our #skylarks & #songbirds nesting. @RSPBEngland @_BTO @ChrisGPackham @NaturalEngland @HantsIWWildlife @TonyJuniper @MarkAvery @HOSbirding @JohnDayRSPB @friends_earth
