HAPPENING NOW: Q&A with ABM 12 Representative Candidate

#PresidentialElections2021
ABM 12 Rep Q&A: Satuito

“If ever we will still continue in this online set up, how will you improve this set-up in events like the ABM Bazaar knowing that we have restrictions?”

(1/2)

#PresidentialElections2021
SATUITO: If we were to continue in an online setup next year, I would help promote the businesses and products that they are selling through the use of social media.

(2/2)

#PresidentialElections2021
“With your platforms, ABM express for activities, after doing all these sharing and evaluations, what is next? What will be the concrete application of these?“

(1/3)

#PresidentialElections2021
SATUITO: Regarding the 1st question, I can hopefully help Lasallians and ABM students find values not only during the online setup but also in future face-to-face classes.

(2/3)

#PresidentialElections2021
For the 2nd question, online distance learning platforms through design based advertisements ultimately depend on the creativity and ways students sell in Twitter posts and FB livestream.

(3/3)

#PresidentialElections2021
“How do you plan or if you have a specific activity in mind, how do you plan to work with the academics? How do you plan to promote your courses in ABM?”

(1/3)

#PresidentialElections2021
SATUITO: I would invite former ABM students and let them share their past experiences so that they can disseminate the information to our batch.

(2/3)

#PresidentialElections2021
SATUITO: I also want to talk to the previous representatives about ways and lessons or values that we can apply in the activities that I plan to have in the next school year.

(3/3)

#PresidentialElections2021
HAPPENING NOW: First Round for One for All (Special Segment)

#PresidentialElections2021
HAPPENING NOW: First Question of One for All (Special Segment)

“In your opinion, how important is the commitment of the Philippines to the Paris Agreement as a developing country?”

#PresidentialElections2021
SATUITO: I actually would be alright with the commitment because at least we get to learn from the people from the French.

#PresidentialElections2021
ARTETA: As a student and as a filipino, I feel like it's really beneficial to our country because it talks about climate change and our country's development. We also need to focus on our environment because it greatly affects our economic development.

#PresidentialElections2021
UY: I think it's crucial that the Philippines agreed since we are a developing country and with matters of global warming i believe that it is important to consider to join this agreement

#PresidentialElections2021
CAIDLANG: It's important to develop in ways through the Paris Agreement because we must protect our environment especially since we are living in a tropical country.

#PresidentialElections2021
MEDINA: It is very important and crucial because climate change affects everyone and I think that is crucial for the Philippines to join this Paris Agreement.

#PresidentialElections2021
RODRIGUEZ: It is important however it serves as a stepping stones from companies that they are responsible to do better.

#PresidentialElections2021
ORBINA: I think that this is good and beneficial to the Philippines as they can support our potential.

#PresidentialElections2021
HAPPENING NOW: Q&A with HUMSS 12 Representative Candidate

#PresidentialElections2021
HUMSS 12 Rep Q&A: Arteta

“In your Project Kaagapay about mental health, as HUMSS Representative what implementations or policies do you propose at an administrative level?”

(1/3)

#PresidentialElections2021
ARTETA: In my previous candidacy as a Vice President, I said that I wanted a peer council project because I believe students are comfortable sharing along with the supervisions of the council.

(2/3)

#PresidentialElections2021
ARTETA: Project kaagapay adds more social interaction in the HUMSS strand. Having webinars, symposiums, and interactions, Humanistas can conquer and raise awareness of problems concerning mental health.

(3/3)

#PresidentialElections2021
“Aside from the Mental Health webinars, what else do you propose?“

ARTETA: I think current policies we have such as Academic Breaks. Since the current DLSU SHS SC President Franz Beltran said it helps fulfill the immediate needs of the students.

#PresidentialElections2021
“HUMSS has been discriminated against and looked down upon, do you have any concrete plans to address this matter? How will this encourage others to join HUMSS“

(1/3)

#PresidentialElections2021
ARTETA: I believe that Project Mulat Bayan and Kamalayan which aims to add social awareness will be helpful in uplifting our strand.

(2/3)

#PresidentialElections2021
ARTETA: These projects help us become socially aware which is important because you are being a part of something significant.

(3/3)

#PresidentialElections2021
HAPPENING NOW: Second Round of One for All (Special Segment)

#PresidentialElections2021
HAPPENING NOW: Second Question for One for All (Special Segment)

“If you are to be elected this year, how would you deal with your constituents asking you for a project or action that goes against your personal values?”

#PresidentialElections2021
ARTETA: I think every project will be for the student body. Even if the project is against my personal values but if it is in line with Lasallian values I will continue with that project because I know that it is beneficial for the student values.

#PresidentialElections2021
MEDINA: If a constituent were to ask me for a project which reflects values that goes against mine, I believe I would decline. However, if we were to discuss it further we might be able to reach a more amicable resolution.

#PresidentialElections2021
RODRIGUEZ: I believe that if ever there would be a project raised by my constituents that is beneficial for students, I believe that I would set my own personal values for the general welfare for the student body.

#PresidentialElections2021
UY: If it does go against my personalvalues but if it is for the betterment for the student body, I should not put myself first.

#PresidentialElections2021
CAIDLANG: As a leader, it's important to put your constituents first which sometimes also means putting your personal values aside. If they ask for a project against my personal values, then so be it. I will provide it for them.

#PresidentialElections2021
ORBINA: I am easy to talk to and even if it goes against my personal values but it is beneficial to the Lasallian community, then I will pursue it.

#PresidentialElections2021
SATUITO: I would really consider it even if it may go against my personal values, so long as it truly benefits the student body. If that would be the case, then I shall approve it.

#PresidentialElections2021
HAPPENING NOW: Q&A with SPT 12 Representative Candidate

#PresidentialElections2021
“As a student leader, how do you plan to promote mindfulness and discipline to your fellow students in an online set-up?”

(1/2)
UY: As a leader, I would be an example for them and my history in sports, I have already learned the skills of being mindful and being disciplined. With my platforms too, they enhance and encourage mindfulness and discipline.

#PresidentialElections2021
(2/2)
“How do you plan on helping you fellow SPT students address the problem of managing their time as both athletes and students?”

(1/2)
UY: Through my experience with my fellow athletes, a trait that we share is prioritizing our time. Focusing on different tasks at the same time would not work. Time management and focusing on oneself can lead to being a better individual.

#PresidentialElections2021

(2/2)
“Why do you think your position is important to the student body? And would you say you will be able to serve this position?“

(1/2)
UY: My idea of running is including every individual, in my case all of my classmates or my whole block. I want the whole SPT strand to be more recognized and be more included in all of the activities that the student council holds.

#PresidentialElections2021
(2/2)
HAPPENING NOW: Third Round of One for All (Special Segment)

#PresidentialElections2021
What are your thoughts on the “Men are Trash” movement?

#PresidentialElections2021
UY: Well as a male I don't want to seem biased, but being degraded as a human subjectifies the whole male gender and I completely disagree with this.

#PresidentialElections2021
SATUITO: The movement, from the name itself, I believe is very disrespectful and degrading for the men who genuinely help. I believe that this movement should not be existent at all.

#PresidentialElections2021
ORBINA: The ideology of this movement is actually based on the notion that men objectify women and I believe it is wrong especially because it focuses on objectifying someone based on their sexuality.

#PresidentialElections2021
MEDINA: I stand for men are trash, I don't mean every angle men are trash. However, it is such a significant amount that it affects a lot of people.

#PresidentialElections2021
RODRIGUEZ: I believe this movement stands for people who are objectified by men. This movement is good because it stands for everyone who was objectified and violated by men.

#PresidentialElections2021
CAIDLANG: I understand the women's sentiments because men's abuse goes far in history. I understand that this movement aims to empower women, and as a male I do not take this against me.

#PresidentialElections2021
ARTETA: I think this movement is an ideology that one can accept or reject. I don't think this movement promotes equality or social justice so I do not stand by it.

#PresidentialElections2021
TREASURER
HAPPENING NOW: Q&A with Treasurer Candidate

#PresidentialElections2021
“We had the Peso Sense Financial Literacy Seminar this year, do you see yourself heading a project which signifies the essence of your position? What are these projects you aim to implement?”

(1/2)
ORBINA: Yes, I think I will create an activity that is related to saving money. I would create an activity through a webinar to promote interactivity so they can manage their savings well.

#PresidentialElections2021

(2/2)
“Sponsorships have been viewed as possible sources of funding, but there are these things called contractualization which exposes our workers to unfair treatment and terms. Would you accept these sponsorships?”

(1/2)
ORBINA: There are other ways to gain funds and I think there are many activities that can sustain the student funds.

#PresidentialElections2021

(2/2)
“What other services or actions can you contribute?”

ORBINA: I can contribute my service and to the allotting of budgets so we could heavily and thoroughly review which projects are really essential and beneficial for the student body.

#PresidentialElections2021
HAPPENING NOW: Fourth Round of One for All (Special Segment)

#PresidentialElections2021
What does the passing of the SOGIE Bill entail and do you agree with its contents?

#PresidentialElections2021
CAIDLANG: The sogie bill is a way for the LGBT+ community to use their voice and empower each other. I fully support the LGBTQ+ community and this Bill.

#PresidentialElections2021
ORBINA: The SOGIE Bill includes all gender rights and so I believe that there are no reasons for it not to be implemented as it entails protection for everyone.

#PresidentialElections2021
RODRIGUEZ: I believe that we should all agree in the passing of this SOGIE Bill. It entails respect, mutual communion amongst everyone, and anti-discrimination.

#PresidentialElections2021
ARTETA: I think that the passage of SOGIE Bill should be passed in the Senate because it provides equality not only for the LGBTQIA+ community but also to everyone in this beloved country.

#PresidentialElections2021
MEDINA: The passing of the SOGIE is so important for everyone because everyone has SOGIE regarding what gender or regarding what they identify as.

#PresidentialElections2021
SATUITO: I really support the SOGIE Bill because equality is important and everyone deserves to live freely. I advocate this bill and promote it for everyone.

#PresidentialElections2021
UY: The SOGIE Bill entails the prevention of discrimination against a certain gender group, and I certainly agree with the passing of this bill since it provides equality for all genders.

#PresidentialElections2021
HAPPENING NOW: Q&A with Secretary Candidate

#PresidentialElections2021
Secretary Q&A: Medina

“As a secretary, an advocate of clear communication, what specific projects do you wish to implement for these advocacies? “

(1/2)

#PresidentialElections2021
MEDINA: So I have my Project Amity that entails communication between the grade 11 and 12 so that is how I plan my activities.

(2/2)

#PresidentialElections2021
“How will you encourage or motivate the student body to take part of the online prom considering it will be held in an online set-up and the experience will be very different compared to a face-to-face set-up?“

(1/2)

#PresidentialElections2021
MEDINA: I plan to make this prom through a prom royalty competition and online games. This competition will be light hearted for people to just laugh and enjoy themselves.

(2/2)

#PresidentialElections2021
“What is the reason behind the platforms you created because if I am not mistaken they are not in line with the position that you are running for“

(1/2)

#PresidentialElections2021
MEDINA: I read that in the position for secretary, they maintain the order between the student body and the student council. With my platforms, the student body will be unified.

(2/2)

#PresidentialElections2021
HAPPENING NOW: Fifth Round of One for All (Special Segment)

#PresidentialElections2021
HAPPENING NOW: Fifth Question for One for All (Special Segment)

What are your thoughts on the removal of the college entrance tests and instead using grades as a basis for college admission due to the pandemic?

#PresidentialElections2021
MEDINA: I think that it is unfortunate but it can't be helped due to the pandemic but I believe that entrance exams are better compared to our grades but it is unfortunate that we have to compromise with our grades right now.

#PresidentialElections2021
ARTETA: I agree with this because I believe we should take care and worry about our health first.

#PresidentialElections2021
ORBINA: These trying times, we cannot help but base it on grades. But, the school can strengthen the admission guidelines for the students.

#PresidentialElections2021
SATUITO: I do believe that college exams are the way to assess one’s knowledge but I believe that now, grades will be the most efficient way to assess one’s knowledge at this time.

#PresidentialElections2021
RODRIGUEZ: I believe removing it is removing the students chances of proving themselves worthy. I believe college tests should be administered in a stricter and more credible way.

#PresidentialElections2021
UY: Right now, it is the best strategy to assess one’s knowledge and it lets the students strive to get a higher grade.

#PresidentialElections2021
CAIDLANG: The removal of the college entrance test is just their way of adjusting to the online setup. I believe it is unfair for those who had to go through college entrance tests in the past.

#PresidentialElections2021
HAPPENING NOW: Q&A with Secretary Rodriquez

#PresidentialElections2021
Secretary Q&A: Rodriguez

“From being the HUMSS representative, among other positions in the student council, why did you choose secretary, and what would you say are your strengths?”

(1/3)

#PresidentialElections2021
RODRIGUEZ: Overseeing the student body is an unspoken job of a secretary, and with my current position which is HUMSS Representative, I believe that my skills are suitable for the position of secretary.

(2/3)

#PresidentialElections2021
RODRIGUEZ: Mas naniniwala po ako na there are better people or people more suitable for certain positions. I believe that my strongest point of being a multitasker is very efficient for this position.

(3/3)

#PresidentialElections2021
“What are your motivations that made you push for these platforms and do you have any more projects that would be more suited for the secretary position?”

(1/2)

#PresidentialElections2021
RODRIGUEZ: When it comes to my motivation, it has been my lifelong advocacy to administer organization for the student body. One of my projects, Project Sanggunian which aims to let me do my job better and implement my values into the council.

(2/2)

#PresidentialElections2021
“As you have said, part of the job of the secretary is to communicate to the strand representatives, how do you plan to use their morale to engage with the student council activities“

(1/2)

#PresidentialElections2021
RODRIGUEZ: I believe that giving them pointers and some motivation with help engage their morale in the student council and increase the cooperation within the team also.

(2/2)

#PresidentialElections2021
HAPPENING NOW: Sixth Round of One for All (Special Segment)

#PresidentialElections2021
HAPPENING NOW: Sixth Question for One for All (Special Segment)

Are all things political? Why or why not?

#PresidentialElections2021
RODRIGUEZ: I believe that everything is political even when it comes to simple household arguments because we have different views and perspectives.

#PresidentialElections2021
CAIDLANG: I also agree that all things are political in whatever context that may be since people always have different views on all matters. Even casual small talks with your peers may be considered as political.

#PresidentialElections2021
UY: I think that everything is political in a sense because any action that we do or conclusions that we reach can be political.

#PresidentialElections2021
SATUITO: I do believe that all things are considered political since we are able to create these intellectual discussions where we state our opinions and learn from the insights of others regarding the different opinions of others.

#PresidentialElections2021
ORBINA: Yes, I agree all things are political, any decision that we make is considered political. Actually, I believe that apolitical is a misused word because everything can be considered political.

#PresidentialElections2021
ARTETA: In this world, what we ask always is who gets who and who gets what and that is politics. What we do can affect people and that is what being political means.

#PresidentialElections2021
MEDINA: Yes everything is political, every move, every word, every action that we do influences the people of this country. So yes, everything truly is political.

#PresidentialElections2021
HAPPENING NOW: Q&A President Caidlang

#PresidentialElections2021
“Do you think and are you confident that your “mental health day” will be approved by the admin considering that we are already following mental health guidelines and protocols?“

(1/3)
CAIDLANG: I expected the raise of concerns regarding my second platform especially in the online set-up. It would take a lot of convincing towards the administration to make this work.

(2/3)
However, even if it is not approved, I will do my best to find other ways to implement this platform.

#PresidentialElections2021

(3/3)
“Which facebook page are you going to post the materials for your Project Engage?”
CAIDLANG: I will make a new Facebook page where students can showcase their talents and submit their works so that other students may express their opinion regarding them.

#PresidentialElections2021
“The presidency is a big position to start with, why did you choose to run for president instead of running for ABM Representative since that is the strand you came from?”

(1/3)
CAIDLANG: When the COMSELEC opened positions, I realized that it would be the last opportunity for me to embark on this journey.

(2/3)
However, I want this to be a motivation for me to do better and be a better person. I know this is a really high position for me but I want to push my limits and I believe that I am capable of leading the student body.

#PresidentialElections2021

(3/3)
HAPPENING NOW: Seventh Round of One for All (Special Segment)

#PresidentialElections2021
"Describe your leadership style."
ORBINA: My leadership style is very approachable. I can answer inquiries of the student body and I can communicate to them well.

#PresidentialElections2021
UY: I would describe my leadership style as more of a hands-on or a participative leader because I like to engage and interact with my members to make sure they get to do what they have to do to accomplish our goal.

#PresidentialElections2021
ARTETA: I believe that I am a leader who is not only molded by words but also by experience. A leader who is molded by passion and open-mindedness to serve the student body.

#PresidentialElections2021
RODRIGUEZ: I believe that my leadership style is put up by my passion and determination to fulfill my duty to serve the student body and their general welfare.

#PresidentialElections2021
SATUITO: My leadership style is selfless. It would come to the point where I would be accountable and take into consideration the needs of my constituents instead of myself. I would make sure my members are doing better than myself.

#PresidentialElections2021
MEDINA: As I said earlier, my leadership style is very open, approachable and warm. I believe that this makes me an ideal leader who fulfills my exact tagline ang CASSama niyo.

#PresidentialElections2021
CAIDLANG: I always value compassion and communication. Through communication I will be able to know what they need so I can address their needs. With that, that is my leadership style.

CAIDLANG: I fully accept the LGBTQ community and I’ve learned from mistakes that I may have done.

#PresidentialElections2021
Question for Arteta: Why didn’t you run for president given the fact that you ran for VP in the last elections

ARTETA: I’ve taken into consideration that the next president should be coming from the current Student Council Officers.

(1/2)
ARTETA: To prove my point, I wish for the president to already be comfortable and familiar with the work that will be bestowed upon them. And now, if I win I know that my position will not hinder me from contributing to the work of the Student Council.
#PresidentialElections2021
Question for Medina: Do you think people will participate in virtual prom?

MEDINA: Yes, I think that many people would join because a lot of ID 120 have yet to experience prom and I will do my best to give them that prom experience.

#PresidentialElections2021
Question for Caidlang: Assuming that more people will choose abstain rather than vote for you, will you run for Student Council President again in the next elections?

(1/2)
CAIDLANG: Yes, I will still run because I want to prove my worthiness to the student body.

#PresidentialElections2021

(2/2)
Question for Rodriguez: Given that you are the only candidate who is currently part of the Student Council, why did you choose to run for secretary instead of president?

(1/2)
RODRIGUEZ: I believe I am better fit for a secretary. I know I have more to develop until I can see myself as a presidential candidate.

#PresidentialElections2021
(2/2)
Question for Medina: If you were to retain one of your current principles and values, what would you retain and why?

(1/2)
MEDINA: I would retain my value of inclusivity. It is incredibly hard to get things done when your members are not comfortable. Through this it will encourage unity within my constituents.

#PresidentialElections2021
(2/2)
Question for Uy: Are you confident that you will win, especially because you are the only one running for your position?

(1/2)
UY: Well given that I am the only one running, I am pretty confident that I will win but that does not change my leniency during this election and I am still worried about the abstain option.

#PresidentialElections2021
(2/2)
Question for Satuito: Can you elaborate your stand on not supporting the Men are Trash movement?

(1/2)
SATUITO: First of all, I would like to apologize for all those who were triggered by my response. I do support these movements on women empowerment. Now, I wish for this movement to further be propagated and to be spread to numerous people.

#PresidentialElections2021
(2/2)
Question for Arteta: What are your thoughts on the ongoing academic freeze?

(1/2)
ARTETA: It would be a solution for us to cope on the demands of the current situation. This would help us progress academically and personally. It would give us an opportunity to rest and decide on our next step academically.

#PresidentialElections2021
(2/2)
Question for Uy: Defend your tagline ‘Kay Migo, Hindi ka Mabibigo’

(1/3)
UY: I want to ensure and prove to them that I can be the role model they need in order for them to succeed in any problem they need solving in.

(2/3)
UY: I want to be someone they can look up to so I need to set a standard for myself. By voting for me they will not be let down.

#PresidentialElections2021
(3/3)
Question for Satuito: What makes your projects any different given that some of your projects are already mandatory?

(1/2)
SATUITO: What makes my projects different is that they are mainly based on the ideologies and opinions of the students. I wish to include them in promoting the interaction between the ABM students through this platform.

#PresidentialElections2021
(2/2)
Question for Satuito: What makes your projects any different given that some of your projects are already mandatory?

(1/2)
SATUITO: What makes my projects different is that they are mainly based on the ideologies and opinions of the students. I wish to include them in promoting the interaction between the ABM students through this platform.

#PresidentialElections2021
(2/2)
“In your opinion, what are the current problems in the student education system? And how do you aim to address them as the Student Council President?”

(1/3)
CAIDLANG: I believe that they are arrogant. They believe that we have won against this pandemic, yet we are still stuck in the same place we started.
(2/3)
CAIDLANG: The implementation of the online set-up was not thoroughly thought out and it did not create any sort of positive effect among the students.

#PresidentialElections2021
(3/3)
Question for Arteta: “Our strand takes part in open-mindedness and social awareness, are you confident that you are able to embody these traits?”

(1/2)
ARTETA: Yes, definitely. I am proud that I have taken part in being open minded and have shown my values as a student leader. I am also politically and socially aware of what is happening in the country, and with that, I want to share this awareness through my projects.
