Boy do I disagree with this op-ed about the risks of not returning to the office (one of which is just...i, the ceo, just might make you a contractor instead of an employee!) https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2021/05/06/ceo-i-want-my-employees-understand-risks-not-returning-work-office/">https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/...
if you...are paying your employees with the expectation that 20 percent of their salary is dependent on them being good at celebrating birthdays in the break room well...idk!
if your & #39;culture& #39; is one where your employees are like, & #39;no thanks, i& #39;m not gonna help this guy i don& #39;t know him& #39; to a new colleague...you might have...bigger problems!
Again, this also sounds a bit like...a threat? And yeah you don& #39;t need to have a 3 minute zoom (but you could have one! there& #39;s no set reason a zoom has to be 30 min long!)...but you could, i dunno...do the work to evolve how your office works!
ok the last line is hilarious. just a straight up parody of like a mobster style threat. & #39;hey...nice career you got there...be a shame if...you know...somethin happened to it& #39;
the CEO is right...going remote/hybrid will take hard work. it is also an investment! as far as trust - it& #39;s not about remote. that comes from the way managers treat employees. it happens when you listen to what they want & when you dont micromanage & when you model vulnerability
do i need to blog about this tomorrow?
i shall get up early and blog about it
