WHY I PREFER ANIME OVER WESTERN MEDIA
/Thread/

Those following me already know I have lost love for what entertainment the West (or US) has to offer. I've seen plenty people irl & twitter who still scoff at anime, dismissing it while bitching about the IPs they still cling to.
It's as simple as the art style isn't realistic, because it's cartoony, it's supposed to be for kids. That is what western animation has conditioned us to believe.

Eastern animation comes in many different styles and maturity levels which is why it has a cult following.
People know the truth of anime. There's something out there for everyone.

The West is too copy-pasting same doodly art styles and shoving PC crap down our throats, killing every last braincell we have left.
When was the last time you watched a western animation and were enthralled by how it made you feel what impacted you more? 2D or 3D?

When was the last time you truly felt an escape in what Western animation has become? Just 3D soulless pixelbags, flailing about on screen.
But that's what it's about isn't it? Escapism. Western animation from Pixar to EA has been obsessed w/ photorealistic quality, they've robbed us of our escape.

We run to animation so our senses are devoid of anything which resembles real life.
Western animation is the heroin addict who's still shooting himself up even though he's clearly OD'd. Gotta have more of the same old stuff to feel that nostalgia high.
I'm able to escape by going on an adventure to find new anime, try them out, and stick around for the ride if I like. I witness talent which I could only hope to aspire to produce art which moves me.

Anime is king of the entertainment world.
Thinking further, and as a final note of this thread. You suspend enough disbelief visually with a 2D animation but with 3D, it's in an awkward in-between of realism and the cartoony. It breaks the immersion of losing yourself fully.

That's all I got.
