I also don't claim to be an expert on the Verse, this is just a thread of things I DO know.

The Basics:
The Star Sanses keep beating the Bad Sanses until Nightmare eventually retreats.
Most of the Bad Sanses, tired of being beaten, drift away from Nightmare. The Verse settles into peace.

During the times of peace, the former enemies began to become couples, Nightmare↓

fading into a distant thought.
The couples were Ink and Error; Dream and Cross; Blue and Dust; Horror and Farm; Science and Outer; Killer and Color; Dance and Lust; etc.

Nightmare grew bitter, hateful, determined to take over the Verse.

He soon found a way... Love, with a few↓

nudges, could easily turn into obsession. He experimented on it with Killer first...

Once Killer was successfully corrupted, Nightmare moved on to Blue and the Star Sanses, then the Bad Sanses, and then the rest of the Sanses in the Verse.

All changed their names, abandoning ↓

their old names.

Nightmare became Noir once his rule over the Verse was secured. He chose it as he wanted a more regal name.
‘Nightmare’ was just a monster with revenge in mind... While ‘Noir’ is a monster who's calm and collected.

Killer became Trance. He can change his ↓

voice into a sweet tone that can put you into a trance.

Cross became Panda. Dream used to call him a panda, even gifting him panda themed gifts. He took the name to be more appealing to Dream.

Dream was the only one not to change his name, as he believed there was still hope ↓

for the Verse.

Ink became Skittles. He was teased with the nickname by Error... When Error died, he took the name in honor of him.

Geno became Restart. He wishes to restart his life in the verse. Bring back his brothers and go back to the old days with his husband.

Death became Midnight, because “Death strikes at midnight.” It was something he would tell Restart to try and comfort him.

Fresh became Pest. He can be a pest to anyone! Noir called him a pest enough that it stuck.

Outer became StarLight, as Science calls him ‘my starlight’.

Science became Chemist. Outer called him ‘my sweet chemist’.

These are only some of the new names.

After his rule was secured, Noir collected a handful of skeletons to work for him. He either threatened their loved ones, which made the obsessed ones agree, or they had nowhere↓

to go, and as such, began to work for him.
