I just don't trust hyper-devoted, my-kids-are-my-everything parents to not treat their kids like a drug
When I did that thread about parental love, romantic love, and arbitrariness some people said 'parental love is different because it's not about your relationship with your kid, it's about helping your kid' and I really liked that
I will reconsider my insane hatred of everything to do with families if I ever conclude that's a real thing
I'm tbh pretty sure that only parents who don't center their emotional lives around kids can truly do that
I just find the fact of life that parents emotionally torture their kids from adolescence on about not loving them back enough super fucked up
