Last night, Las Vegas collapsed in the second half to the tune of five goals allowed, and their narrow 4-3-3 and left-wing miscommunication was the direct cause. @LAGalaxyII was absolutely clinical in exploiting the issues hinted at in the screenshots below.
For the first goal, the LB (Edwards) and LCM (Daroma) shift well but cover the same man. This leaves a gap, and the cross creates the danger that leads to a goal.
For the second goal, Vegas did better initially at guarding space. However, @axelpicazo01 smartly forms a triangle with Hernandez and @owen_lambe that draws the LB out, and the issue re-emerges.
Goal number three exploited the gap over the top on Vegas’ left yet again. Tough stretch for Edwards here…
These are the sort of issues that a team who loans in eight guys right before kickoff are going to have, but LA was clinical too. Their right flank looked positively rampant, and I have no doubt they’re a playoff threat after these first two games.
