The conservatives are right.

The conservatives are right that social justice is a slippery slope. I used to think they were wrong, but they are right.

A thread.
Once you begin to work for the liberation of any oppressed group, if you’re consistent, you’ll soon recognize the need to work for the liberation of others. Let me tell you why.
All oppression operates with a similar logic. If you study the history of oppression of different groups—something I’ve been doing for a few years now—you’ll begin to notice how similar the arguments are.
Racism, sexism, and homophobia are all interconnected. They all share a common (il)logical foundation. From a historical Christian perspective, the Biblical arguments in support of each have been almost identical as well.
Similarly, the logical and theological foundations for racial liberation and equality also apply to the liberation and equality of women and LGBTQ people, and vice versa.
It takes time to see these connections, at least it did for me. But once I began to see them, they were undeniable. I think this explains why, although there are exceptions, those who oppose LGBTQ rights also tend to oppose gender equality and true anti-racism, and vice versa.
I also think it’s why conservatives are accurate in their observations that once someone starts down the path of social justice for any particular group, there’s a strong likelihood that they’ll eventually become advocates for other oppressed groups as well.
tl;dr - oppression is interconnected. So is justice.
