Something I wish I could convince younger movie fans of, but know I will never be able to: Stop buying so much physical media! Own the movies that REALLY mean a lot to you, rent or borrow the rest.
I know I sound like an old crank but I speak this truth as somebody who has spent thousands on an overwhelming collection that now greats me every time I walk into my apartment as the reminder of bad decisions made that it is.
The lie we tell ourselves is that if we don’t buy this movie or that release, it might go out of print or disappear from existence and we will never be able to see it again. A) it probably won’t, B) there are thousands of other movies to spend your life watching.
I think about the money I spent on movies I watched once and put on a shelf, money I could have spent on learning a hobby or traveling or good food or making my own movie.

Break free of the curse while there’s time! Don’t be tricked into thinking collecting is a personality!
All this doesn’t apply if you have “fuck you” money. If that’s the case, feel free to build your own Library of Alexandria to your heart’s content.
