Just finished a deep dive into Apple Podcast Channels.

Here are the 6 things you should know ⤵️
1️⃣ Channels are groups of podcasts in Apple Podcasts.

You create a channel in Apple Podcasts Connect, pick which shows to include, and can add custom artwork for the topline image.
2️⃣ Channels can be Free, Freemium, or Paid.

If it's free, the channel page acts as a great landing page for a group of podcasts.

Freemium & Paid channels allow you to Subscribe to pay for the channel.
3️⃣ The process of Subscribing to pay for podcasts, ALWAYS happens at the Channel level.

You don't Subscribe ($) to an individual podcast. You Subscribe to the Channel that contains that podcast.
4️⃣ Podcasts can only be in one Channel at a time.

The same paid podcast can't be offered in 3 different Channels.

(This means I have to subscribe to the entire Luminary Channel to get access to the new Dave Chapelle podcast...)
5️⃣ Subscribe to a channel doesn't make you Follow the podcasts in that channel.

Some publishers, like Luminary, have dozens of podcasts in their Channel. So, you start by Subscribing to pay for the channel, then you Follow the individual shows you want to listen to.
6️⃣ Every show in a channel MUST be under the same Apple ID.

If you want to create a channel with podcasts that were submitted under different Apple IDs, you need to transfer ownership of each show to one Apple ID.
