Liz Cheney isn& #39;t trying to save the Republican party at this point. She& #39;s trying to save the country.
And if we want the country to be saved, GOP is where it starts.
Not rebuilding the party- that& #39;s a lost cause.
It& #39;s about deprogramming their voters.

This might seem contradictory to the strong stance I& #39;ve taken against the Lincoln Project. But that& #39;s an inaccurate assessment of my position.
Lincoln Project was a scam, and we were so blinded by rage, so desperate to beat Trump, too many of us fell for it.

Lincoln Project is not the enemy of our enemy.
GOP is not the enemy. It& #39;s just the vehicle for the conservative movement. LP wants to destroy the GOP to save the conservative movement.
The conservative movement is the enemy, no matter what political party it inhabits.

They aren& #39;t all of a sudden Democrats. They didn& #39;t see the light about our issues.
They& #39;ve seen the light about Trumpism and how it& #39;s causing them to lose elections. If they don& #39;t win elections, they can& #39;t implement their policy agenda. And that& #39;s still very much their goal.

Several idiots accused me of wanting "one party rule" but that& #39;s ridiculous. Once GOP implodes, another party will rise up in its place.
Yes, we need two healthy parties but rebuilding the opposition means winning back voters from Democrats. We certainly shouldn& #39;t be funding it.

Now, about those voters. We hate them. They are against everything we stand for and they are the obstacle to Democrats reaching our goals.
We think they are terrible people, beyond redemption, just by virtue of voting Republican.

It& #39;s not like they know they& #39;re terrible people and are ok with it. They might be misguided. They& #39;ve definitely been manipulated.
But they believe what they believe. And they vote. In fact, they vote more reliably that we do. Because winning is critical to upholding their values

Shaming them isn& #39;t going to change that. Refusing to deal with them isn& #39;t going to make them reassess their world view.
Kicking Joe Manchin out of the party doesn& #39;t "punish" Joe Manchin, it punishes the Democrats.
And gives Republican voters a win.

Our population is diverse. People have divergent interest. They are motivated by different things.
People are complicated. They can be good about some things, and not so good about other things.
If you& #39;re being honest, you know that& #39;s probably true about yourself as well.

Those probably aren& #39;t people you& #39;d have a beer with. And they probably wouldn& #39;t want to have a beer with us.
But the world needs people like that.

Back to Liz Cheney.
These misguided people are the obstacle to saving our country. Reaching them is the only way out.
Democrats aren& #39;t going to be able to do it. It has to come from people they trust, in a language they can understand.

So for this purpose, Liz Cheney has value.
She has hitched up her metaphorical boat and she& #39;s headed into the storm to save whoever she can.
And maybe other people with boats will follow her lead.
And if they can save enough people, maybe the country can be saved.

You don& #39;t have to like her. I& #39;m not even going to tell you not to gripe about all the bad things she& #39;s done.
But you should recognize what she is doing is something we as a country desperately need.
And we should support her effort and hope beyond hope that she succeeds.
