Post vaccine fatigue has crept up on me and my sick day tradition is to watch the Twilight series - it never disappoints. I always forget the perfection of the Linkin Park & Paramore double bill for the credits. The whole thing is such a beautiful time capsule.
Hands down my favorite part about New Moon & Eclipse is that it's just four hours of how horny Bella is. Top tier narrative thread.
Despite the wigs, Eclipse is underrated. I love exasperated Edward and doesn't know when to quit Jacob. I also love all all Forks high school kids. Mike Newton has my heart forever.
With that said, Bella goes into a state of depression for 3-4 months, and when she finally starts to show signs of life, Mike's first instinct is to ask her on a date. He & Jacob need to sit the hell down and let my girl Bella take a breath. Stop trying to hold her hand thirsty!
(If you see me watching my favorite parts of New Moon & Eclipse again before I move on to Breaking Dawn, no you didn't)
(And yes I watched all the Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse bonus features...and all I have to say is Catherine Hardwicke, Stephanie Meyer, and Melissa Rosenburg actually talk about how diverse the first movie is with complete earnesty...)
My completely niche Seattle-ite gripe with Eclipse is that Riley is supposed to be a college student and they have him hanging out at touristy Pike Place Market & Westlake Center. On the flipside, they have Top Pot, Herkimer, and Targy's on the t-shirt quilt so it's a wash.
Obligatory Charlie Swan Appreciation
Is it cheugy to get verklempt during the wedding scene? So be it
(I dare you to listen to that transition from Turning Page to Flightless Bird, American Mouth, to My Love and stay dry eyed)
Continuing my decade old takes, the Rosalie & Jacob dynamic is pitch perfect in Breaking Dawn. The entirety of this two-parter is a clear a love letter to book & movie fans. Bill Condon just picked up that 750 pager and said "this, we're gonna do all of this".
We don't give Taylor Lautner enough credit for selling *THE* strangest romance in the history of fiction.

(I've read Kissing The Coronavirus, so I can confirm that imprinting is, in fact, the number one weirdest thing ever written.)
Fun fact for anyone who hasn't muted this thread; Melissa Rosenberg wrote not only all the Twilight screenplays, but also Step Up, multiple episodes of Dexter, The OC, and Ally McBeal, AND created the Jessica Jones series?! Guess I'm a Rosenberg stan now
