When I nap, half the time I dream that I wasn't able to sleep so I got up and started doing ordinary things, very disgruntled because I'm convinced that I'm NOT napping, and then I wake up and realize that the thing with the sandwich didn't actually happen.
But then today, I dreamed I was napping in a hotel, when S came in and woke me up to tell me a) the Cardinals had won, and b) he'd invented a new kind of trail mix that he wanted me to try, from stuff he'd bought out of hotel vending machines.
Now, the fact that we were in a hotel should have tipped me off that I was still asleep. But it did not.
I started eating this trail mix. There were M&Ms and feta cheese and crackers and a LOT of green pepper pieces (still totally plausible to me that this was from a vending machine)
And for a moment it occurred to me that maybe I was dreaming, but then I was like "Nah, I can taste everything! You can't taste things in dreams!"

(apparently you can?)
S was particularly enthused about the last thing in the trail mix. It looked like a large, brown M&M with a smiling chicken stamped on it. I bit down on it. It tasted like chicken and biscuits.

I was SO SHOCKED by this turn of events that I finally woke up.
Massively disoriented, of course, because I'd been thoroughly convinced I was already awake.

I can't wait to tell S about the chicken and biscuit candy, though. If ever there was a market for savory candy, he is it.
