Realistic Liverpool Rebuild over the next 2 seasons
1. Changing the system
This season has proved that 433 has gone stale and teams have figured us out. The days of the hard working midfield are over

Getting the best out of Thiago has to be our number 1 priority next season. Switching to a 4231 has proven to work in the past ...
In November 2018, we switched to a 4231 using Shaqiri as the 4th attacker up until the game vs Man City (A)

We won 11/12 of the games in that time period and our only loss was against PSG, where we reverted back to a 433

We lost the city game when we dropped Fab and played 433
Our best run of form this season was from Sheffield utd (H) to 1-1 with West Brom (H)

We played a 4231 and won 9/13 games, dropping points to Atalanta, West Brom, City, Midtjylland and Brighton.

Our best games came when we played Jones as a 10

Since then we’ve won 9/25 games
2. Selling Deadwood
There needs to be massive changes at Liverpool in the next few windows. There are players staying well longer than they should be that offer nothing to us anymore.

Between now and next summer we should see a increase in quality of the backup players
Gini Wijnaldum

Been a good servant to the club but it’s clear he doesn’t want to be here for a while. Most likely to leave in the summer on a free and I wish him well

Let him go on a free
Xherdan Shaqiri

Decent signing at the time but fell out of favour quickly with Klopp. We should’ve used him a lot more but for the sake of his own career we should be looking to sell

Price : 15m
Divock Origi

A cult hero in Liverpool but nostalgia aside he is nowhere near good enough to be playing for us anymore. Stayed longer than he should’ve and giving him a new deal after the Champions league was criminal

Sell for 10-20m
Rhys Williams

Yes he’s young but let’s be brutally honest here, he’s not good enough to be playing for us. He’s way too slow and is out of his depth playing in the Premier league. Would be great for a league 1 side but just not for us

Sell
Neco Williams

Another young player, but unfortunately he’s not good enough to be backup to Trent. He will have a good career somewhere else but just not at Liverpool. Most likely to stay due to lack of depth but I’d be looking for a backup Right back

Sell/ loan
Ox

Hes been finished for a while now. How Hes lasted this long I’ll never know. Clarkson is even higher in the pecking order than him and that says a lot. Pretty useless these days and we are better off cashing in on him while we can get more than 5m for him

Sell sell sell
Naby Keita

I love Naby I really do but he is always injured. Good player on his day but that’s very rare. He probably has 1 more season left at Liverpool unless someone comes in with a big offer for him. I hope he has a great career somewhere else

1 season left until Hes Sold
Takumi Minamino

Another player that just doesn’t get game time. Has great ability but just isn’t suited to this league. He will go on to have a good career in Germany

Sell: 10m
Joel Matip

Good servant to the club and great free transfer but Hes made of cheese. World class when he plays, never drops a stinker but unreliable. If we can get more than 15m that would be great but I think he will be kept for 1 more season as a 5th choice

Sell
Other players we should get rid of are
Adrian
Woodburn
Ben Davies
Sheiyi Ojo
Karius
Awoniyi
Grujic
Nat Phillips
Harry Wilson
3. Adding quality
Liverpool need serious strength in depth for next season as this season has shown how far away we are from the likes of Man City

We need big changes but I can’t see “marquee signings” coming in this summer.
Konate

a done deal already. Great player and perfect rival to Gomez for being VVD partner. Hes quick, great in the air, ball playing centre back. Perfect for our high line. Could also have to option to playing a back 3 next season too

Cost 35m
Rodrigo De Paul

What a player he is. One of the best attacking mids in Europe rn and available at a bargain price of 40m. Perfect player for a 4231 system, can play on the left wing aswell. Has 18 G/A in 34 games this season from midfield. Definitely what we’ve lacked
Backup for Salah

Sarr is one thrown around a lot but unlikely to happen because of AFCON this season.

Raphinha is one id like to see but would cost big money to bring in but would be worth it

A winger must come in aswell as the return of Harvey Elliott
Centre mid:
Barella and Haidara are both 23 and very similar players. Both excellent box to box players with an eye for the final pass.

Haidara would cost around 20-35m and Barella would be 40m

Can’t see either coming this summer, unless Naby Keita leaves
Striker
Patson Daka would be great signing for 18m but I think he’s off to Leipzig

Donyell Malen is the most likely , pace , strength, good finisher exactly what we miss rn

I think going for experience and getting Suarez for a season. Is free and brings goals

Who says no?
Back up Right back

Hysaj is the best option right now. Neco is nowhere near good enough to play champions league if Trent gets injured. Hysaj is an experienced full back than can play left or right back and is free in the summer

Other option are Max Aarons and Ben Hendrichs
4. Promoting youth
If we bring in 1 or 2 midfielders I would like to see Curtis Jones play a lot more in an attacking role in a 4231

The return of Harvey Elliott is important aswell. Good wing cover for salah but also can be played in the 10 role. Gives us creativity we miss
Players like Musialowski, Balagizi, Clarkson, Cain, Stewart should be all training with the first team in pre season and given a chance with first team players in cup comps
5. Replacing 1 of the front 3

21/22 is Manés last season with Liverpool. We should be looking to replace him first.

I don’t think Jota is the replacement as Hes much more suited to the central role but ASM or Sancho are most likely replacements at the moment
