What @davidplouffe just said is so critical. Republicans hate democracy so much, they have chosen to bow down to a corrupt cult leader simply to “enshrine themselves in power, permanently,” including the door they’ve opened to white nationalism and violent minority rule.

And if Democrats like @Sen_JoeManchin and @SenatorSinema choose to protect the Jim Crow filibuster — with all of its roots in slavery and Jim Crow — over protecting our democracy, they will be just as responsible as Republicans for its demise.

And as @NicolleDWallace added, Democrats should not get it twisted: if they don’t pass S1 - the democracy bill that was called HR1 in the House, they are finished as a political entity, despite the popularity of their ideas. We will be under authoritarian rule, maybe permanently.

And we’re not just talking about the tax cuts for the rich plutocrats like Moscow Mitch taking over. He and McCarthy and the rest have already been overrun by the freak wing. The MAGA cult owns that party, and that’s what will be ruling you. Take that in, and call your Senator.
