This is such a brainwormed response. The railroads aren't a monopoly on northeast travel any more than Facebook is a monopoly on social media communication. https://twitter.com/ZaidJilani/status/1390389580130553857
Also, I see we're still doing that thing where we complain *on Twitter* that Facebook has a monopoly on social media communication.

Fellas. Get a clue.
When you force Facebook's antagonists to drill down and explain just what it is that Facebook is supposedly a monopoly on, you inevitably get to: Facebook is just a big company that a lot of people are using.

But that is not a monopoly, and there are lots of alternatives. https://twitter.com/ZaidJilani/status/1390402271050096641
'Round and 'round we go on this just because people are mad that their grandma and their local YMCA doesn't want to use a different social media company.
But when you drill down, nothing about Facebook is a monopoly.

User pages? The internet is lousy with spaces for you to set up your own communications platform.

Messaging? Greetings from Discord, Slack, and SMS texting.

Photo albums? Wave to Flickr. And Apple. And Pornhub.
And, of course, the all-important ads. Guys, you can find other places to advertise on the internet than Facebook. Google will be happy to take your money.
When you get down to it, Facebook's antagonists don't like Facebook because the company is exercising its own First Amendment rights.

Which is a shameful reason (not to mention unconstitutional one) to pass legislation punishing the company.
I think a lot of the antagonism towards Facebook is really people telling on themselves. They can't quit Facebook, so they want Uncle Sam to come along and make Facebook play nice.

That's just not a problem for the awesome and terrible power of the state.
