I figured I'd try to motivate myself today by posting a drawing video working on the current art commission. I have been ill with lady issues, to put it nicely, the last few days and it's been really hard for me to work. I'm one of those women that has extremely severe symptoms.
Anyway, I'm working on the blanket today and finishing the baby's cradleboard. If you remember, I had to change what was in the reference photo into stuff that fits the Kiowa culture. That means altering the blanket and the cradleboard to be more authentic.
In this short clip, you're seeing me draw out some of the blanket pattern but later on when I show you the progress photo for today in my next post, it's going to look a little bit different. After I took this video, I actually erased what I did here and
I did it over again because I realized I did the hatch marks in the wrong direction. I'm dyslexic. Sometimes stuff like that happens and I have to do stuff over. So here's the video of me working on the blanket weave. My next post coming up shortly will be the photo of progress.
I'm almost ready to do the background, which will go quickly because I like my backgrounds to be diffused and not totally detailed in order to keep the focus on the person or people in the portrait.
As always, I'm Jessica and I'm a portrait and historical artist living in Atlanta. Everything I do is with the tools in my mouth due to the nature of my disability. Please visit my shop at http://www.etsy.com/shop/ArtByJessicaJewett 🌙
