Personally I don’t wish to see the NCT brand being used for this as much as I want to support the dreams of young teens and adults. From a business perspective, speaking as a marketing grad, the company makes use of the umbrella branding in order to help new teams break into the market especially because fans of the units under the brand will be more inclined to either check them out or buy into the new group
out of brand loyalty. From a fan’s perspective, I’m sick of this. The company can sufficiently do this sort of brand loyalty marketing with the SM name alone. They don’t need to tag everything to NCT. They’ve been doing this for some time and personally while I’ve come to love
all 23 members and all units (lmao guess their tactics worked on me) there’s the sort of pressure within the fandom itself for you to be an OT-n (n like nth number since it’s always expanding) which I feel the pressure takes the joy out of K-Pop which is supposed to be a hobby.
SM is just feeding into this and honestly I just feel like they gotta stop now lol.
Also it’s upsetting to see the team name being used for blatantly businesslike reasons to push sales although I know that K-Pop in itself is a huge business/product push LOL
