Eren Jaeger, the special protagonist having multiple facets, interesting to analyze, brought spice to Isayama’s manga, & made us vibrate during the plots of Attack On Titan

The one who was born to free the world from titans
« You are free. »

Why? Because you are born into this world. Something that didn't need to be said, but is felt in this famous panel. Eren has always sought freedom, something his father didn't force onto him. As he says himself, he has always been him
Walls are like cages where birds are locked up and they don’t have freedom to see beyond it. This was already Eren's mentality, since 9

Why does he react like this?

Eren realized he was not free since he saw Armin's twinkling eyes after talking about outside world
That’s when a desire was born. We can focus on the clash of ideology of freedom between Armin & Eren.

While Armin's freedom is seen in a more positive light, based on a curiosity to see the world, Eren's is much more negative as he feels frustrated to be locked up in a cage
But, throughout his existence, Eren related his birth by expressing his vision to show he is a character who has always been free to choose in order to achieve a goal no matter what.

I can even go so far as to explain that in a way, Eren was able to foresee his own birth
through Kruger. When he tells Grisha to have a family, to love someone outside the walls, Grisha is completely surprised because he has already loved Dina and had a family

But this not only brings an intense dose showing Eren will have motivated his father to have a new family
which will allow him to be born in order to accomplish this mission, that's why his birth is so special, but it opens the doors to love which is a crucial aspect concerning Eren and his father himself

Grisha will not make same mistakes with Eren & he will confess to Zeke
& Eren will be even more motivated knowing that it is Mikasa's love that will break the curse

Eren's birth, whose exclusivity is marked by the pov of Shadis, in an entire chapter, which is Isayama's favorite, allows us to perceive he has always been a special person
The embodiment of freedom by ending the titan era in the world in which he was born.

Shadis saw something in Eren he himself envied, because he was not like the others, he understood he was not an ordinary person and his parents, deep down, already perceived it
And this child who was born, has always had a very precise objective

The titan was a source of the cycle of hatred in the world & he wanted to achieve the goal of eradicating them at all costs. A boy who sought freedom because of the childish desire
Eren has seen his companions die and the fighters get murdered hoping to have died with the desire to have achieved something so that their people are no longer oppressed.

They wanted to devote their hearts wishing that it was not in vain. And he grew up seeing all that
What shows Eren was in his way of seeing justice, interested in saving his friends in a point, & therefore motivated him to continue, is the fact he never stopped sending himself the memories :

"If you want to save Mikasa, Armin and the others, continue your mission" 3 times
This is shown to us, and the desire for a world without titan was expressed by all throughout the work
The death of Eren's mother, caused by the fact of guiding Dina to their home, was the main source of acquiring this goal.

This created in him a deep hatred towards titans & pushed him to keep his head high until the end to achieve this.

Indirect or not, it was something which
created a great rage in him, and it was a path who leads him to accomplish his mission until the end.

In the final arc, and in many chapters throughout the manga, we can see how much his love for her had impacts on him about fulfilling his mission and ends the titans
Over time, Eren realized something.

With Levi's squad, protecting his friends was the right choice for him since the events that happened, after their deaths,

but also after his conversation with Jean, about Mikasa's injury
He always loved them and tried try to protect them,

but he knew unfortunately his actions could have put them in danger, even though he was the one who wished them all a long life
Here we can see when he wished it, he wanted it as much for his friend Sasha but also Ramzi and Halil because he never hated these innocents

In fact he always wanted a long life for them, that's what this panel could relate

That's why he apologizes to Ramzi, while saving him
The one who as a child did not even know how to fight, put these men in their place, by doing justice.

While asking himself "why this sudden morality knowing what I will do?  "

It is in this Eren has a duality
One of factors allowed Eren to move forward until his enemies were destroyed was putting his sensibilities & feelings aside

But who are Eren's enemies? They are evoked in 2 distinct categories

On one hand we have titans, on other hand we have humans wanting to take his freedom
We can see, when Eren says « we are free » in RTS arc and Trost arc, at what extent is his vision. It again reflects Eren's desire of freedom colletively, not just for himself

No matter how the world terrifying can be, no matter how cruel it is, we are free & we can fight
He says indeed he will not hesitate to take the freedom of those who want to take his, while killing two kidnappers, who wanted to make Mikasa, a miserable sex slave

This state of mind, he has it since that age, and it is since that day, he has not been afraid to face others
Eren killing kidnappers was one of defining moment in his character. He always had a great sense for justice,so much that he is willing to cross boundaries of morality

It was on that day he said words "fight"which had a meaning throughout the manga,a source of motivation for all
Thus rumbling was inevitable & he would have wiped out entire population irrespective of memories he saw because he won't let anyone kill his friends and people of Paradis

He cannot accept world's hatred for Eldians or Zeke's euthanisation plan just because they are Eldians
And since he had memories of the future, according to what he saw, it was the tortuous but united way so that the titans disappear while giving Eldia time to be equal to the others and to have the opportunity to negotiate peace.

Eren will have been machiavellian until the end
Eren being a person with a lot of empathy for others, understood he had to put everything aside, including that, in order to achieve this mission.

Why was it so important to him?

For 2000 years, no one has ventured into this aim, no one has wanted to have such a cruel role
And it is the mistake that made humanity the spectator of this terror. So Eren does not let his feelings overwhelm him and decides to play the role that no one wanted

As someone said : «Eren has an unyielding face, that of a hunter, a predator who has no mercy, who has taken
on his own shoulders, so as not to be the prey locked up like cattle behind walls. »

"It is through Sasha that Isayama supports his point, showing nature is governed by the law of the strongest. Sasha is the predator, but becomes the prey the moment she spares Gaby. "
The great price to pay was weight of this suffering, waiting for an unlikely hope of 4 years, to find other alternatives to the choice he saw himself making in future but nothing

He carried all this time, this heavy burden, which Armin & all the others witnessed, at the very end
He didn’t hesitate for a second to sacrifice himself for Armin's sake when they were in Trost and Armin was in danger.

Just like when he had this strong desire to save his friend & keep him alive because he expressed the fact Armin would save humanity
But Isayama shows you should not give in to your feelings when you have a specific goal, especially in a chaotic world where it is either one people that is destroyed or the other.

To give in to it would lead your nation to its loss. Eren understood that
That's why the story a& the approach of Attack On Titan could serve as a lesson to many, but this is a sensitive subject in our current ideology, because it is well and truly the most hated and despised by propriety and morality

Often you have to be tough on others & yourself
to accomplish something, and that's what he did. It's like the example of a parent who doesn't give in to the whims of their children

Eren was strong enough mentally, even more than Zeke, who didn't see himself carrying such a heavy burden as killing 80% of the population
and preferred a soft eradication by doing a genocide at the level of eldians only.

He was even more so than his father, whom he motivated, and in the end, he even ate the Reiss children
Eren will have made a plan in which he chose to understand Ymir. AT, compared to FT, has never been a submissive, on contrary.

He has always moved forward in search of freedom, that's why, the one who started this story was able to help Ymir & allow her to make her own choice
So the AT represents Ymir's will to be free from slavery of FT I.e. royal family.

Eren's actions only influenced events related to him, however AT was in a way Ymir's search for someone who can make her enough strong to fight in order to be free at the end
This is when Eren appeared and for the first time Ymir got to choose.

He finally knew she wanted to be freed from her 2000 year imprisonment due to her love for King Fritz, and the choice to eradicate the titans, for the result, was Mikasa’s, the embodiment of love
So he will do everything possible to save Ymir in order to achieve the result of eradicating titans.

And thus, Eren finally understood Mikasa's role would be to kill him but he didn't need to convey this to her.

Because Mikasa chose to kill him purely out of her own free will
However, Eren only allowed to be stopped because he knew titans would be finished.

Otherwise, he won't have stopped till rumbling wipes out all of humanity outside island. As he said himself, it is his inner conflict

And since he knew Mikasa would be safe, that explains
allowing her to enter the battle field, first in Marley and then in Fort Slava.

On the other hand, knowing through memories he will allow to be stopped

he makes the plan because he decides to play the demon until the end by finally making a partial rumbling of 80% of humanity
That will allow his nation to have time and his friends, the embassadors, to negotiate a lasting peace, while advocating his trust in Armin.

Them, according to him, would be acclaimed everywhere.

He will therefore have been like the villain, who is killed by his friends, who
who are themselves eldians, and will remain the heroes of humanity. Mikasa having the greatest role in this, being helos par excellence, the one who killed him by a single act.

Eren will have thus by his plan and his vision of justice, wanted a rebirth
There is an interesting parallel concerning Eren & fez Kids. It goes beyond Eren's guilt of doing genocide.

In fact, it can be argued in same way these children steal in order to allow their family to eat, Eren makes a genocide allowing to try to save his Island. Both acts are
reprehensible, but Eren's act is always more and his situation more crucial too.

The child accepts to sacrifice the members of his body because it is to help his family and Eren, in the end, accepts to die, while telling himself he will have freed Eldia from the world of titans
He would have died giving them this gift that he too would have liked to see

In addition, the same chapter fulfilled Eren's childhood dream of being able to fly by discovering the world
and we have a great contrast between Eren's desire as a child and Eren as an adult who has his eyes closed because it is difficult for him to face the atrocity that he commits.

It may be this scenary... that sight...
Eren, since always, repeats how there is no worse than the mass murderers, he was always against that, and he was devastated to know he would have to be what he hates the most to achieve his ends.

That's why he didn't try to live up to it, because he was true to his character
until the end while taking responsibility for his actions. He didn't want to die, but he mentioned the innocents he killed didn't want that either.

Eren's greatest dream were those of wanting to live in peace with Mikasa, and explore the world with Armin and he fulfilled that to
make them happy for one last time. He made Mikasa understood the consequences of a choice when they run away together, it would be slaughter of Paradise and their friends.

However, that dream gave Mikasa the understanding Eren is doing this for Island as he couldn't abandon his
people and run away from responsibilities. This is why she was so calm, knowing that letting him go is the thing to do for greater good.

And thus, she gained the strength to kill him and she decided to save the remaining humanity
The weight of his actions, his inner suffering, his love for Mikasa, the desire not to be forgotten after his death and all the tortures he went through knowing he would have to play the role of the tyrant, came out in front of Armin, before he dies
He had desires on his part, that’s why he asked Mikasa « what am I to you », when he was in the depth of his despair.

Eren wished another answer, it was a way for him to have a last humanity, but everything was already predestined about his own choices
His supreme act of devotion will go against everything he ever wanted. In some points, a disinterested act and his friends will be the heroes of a new world, a world without titans, for which they have all devoted their hearts.

He will therefore be free thanks to Mikasa who
saved him from his burdens, but will never have had the freedom to live in the world without walls with those he loved.

So, in reality he is not completely free when he dies. But in the end it shows his birth is really something special and brought a change to the world
That's why he keeps saying that too. Born to eradicate the titans & bring renewal, no matter the sacrifices

Eren would have wished another plans in order to save Eldians, which is why he waited so long before carrying out his own goal. He always hated this act, just like
his friends who would never have wanted it.

Eren will be in this story a person loyal to the end of his promises, which he will have respected. He never asked to be admired. Throughout work, he has always considered himself weak, even if according to others, this was not the case
He wanted to achieve this goal, with this vision of protecting Eldia and eradicating the titans. Since he was born, he had this to fulfill. And he did, at the cost of his death and his freedom.

Eren is a character with a human personality. He is the one whose heart is as full
of evil as it is of good, the one who rages, who cries, who is cold, who laughs, who is calm,

who stresses, who manipulates, who undergoes, who smile, who is as free as he is chained, who does a selfless act but behind it, he also does it for his own selfishness
Eren is a character in his own right who marked me thanks to his great determination, his brave heart, & nobody will forget a character as complex, interesting.

There are so many things I could still say

Eren once said to Falco a line that fits perfectly with his conclusion
« What kind of person would want to go to war, if they knew they were going to end up like this. But there is something pushing us all along,

causing us to step right into hell. We are forced too, by others or our environment. But this kind of hell seen by people who push
themselves into it is something else. They also see something beyond that hell, maybe it is hope, maybe it is yet another hell »
