This is a true story about a studio I worked for. In the 90's the Post Office needed money and there was a real push to get kids into stamp collecting. The USPS approached the studio about creating an animated special to encourage kids to take up the niche hobby and spend $$$
The studio agreed and made the special which would air primetime on NBC and the USPS publicized the hell out of it. They sent mailers out to every home in the US offering free swag to get kids in front of tvs in hopes of sparking their stamp interest.
So the big night comes, the premiere date is all over the fliers and kids tune in to learn how to give the Post Office some much needed cash flow when tragedy strikes. The special is preempted by a special message from President Clinton.
"My fellow Americans", he says remorsefully to the public and many children just there to learn about stamps for fun and profit, "I did not have sex with that woman."
The special never aired and has been lost to the ages. The Post Office took a big financial hit over the wasted flier budget. My studio was hoping the exposure from the special would nab them more work but...yeah. In conclusion, the real victim of the Clinton scandal? Stamps.
