Here's my only take on the past few days: don't get so caught up in wanting to be a hockey fan who is right that you forget to be a human being who cares about other people.
This goes for everyone, my own fanbase included. "Who cares if that guy got hurt in a totally avoidable way, it's hockey" isn't a mentality I want to live with or support in any way. I haven't defended Wilson for years because of it.
I also think people harping on Oshie for not fighting last night or questioning his decision to play need to look at themselves and ask where they lost their perspective so badly.
I'm not always level-headed or unbiased in how I react to things either, but I never want to lose sight of caring about other human beings in all the mess. Hockey isn't worth that.
